So whose face does TigerTrack have, Sideswipe's or Red's?

 

Does anyone know if Hasbro will do a TRU exclusive on Sideswipe? And do we know if it comes with the plastic stands?

 

Not sure if I want to buy Sideswipe AND Tracks or just Tracks, because I actually don't want to spend too much money on Transformer figures. I already have Prime, Bee, Wheeljack and Smokescreen. But Sideswipe looks so cool! >.<

You mean those translucent stands in Tony_Bacala's pictures? Nah, I am very certain those stands are just his.

 

Hasbro might, no one really knows. For $70 you can get him now or wait for a possible TRU release and pay $60. The Takara release doesn't include a stand and TRU didn't have a stand with Prowl or Bluestreak.

 

I have the first Asia reissue from a year or so ago. Same with Red Alert.

 

MP Sideswipe looks very regal in that rich crimson. These MP carbots are cool and all, but I miss the larger MP01/Alternators scale. I also wish that more G1 toy-accurate details were included, like chrome weapons, wheels, and in SideSwipe's case- forearms.

I saw in a KO thread here that MP10 has been upsized even larger than MP01. If only a big KO Sideswipe were made at this level of quality to match, I'd not hesitate to buy that, but as it is, he is tempting.

 

I got the first release when they very first hit.... no paint problems, and the face looks nice and spiffy.... that being said, why hasn't toys r us done him yet?

 

dammit, although I have the first release of MP-12 and this is just sitting on the shelves of my local hobby shops, waiting to be bought.... darn.. maybe next month when funds are available..  

 

Well OK, that settles that. The evidence is very conclusive by these close ups. This reissue has the exact face as the very first release.

 

Just got mine in the other day and am really happy i scooped him up.

Yeah, according to rumor Hasui got pissed the sculptor screwed up the face for Sideswipe (which became the stoned V1 version), and he got really involved in the sculpting from then on.

They probably tried to fix it by putting in Red's face but the complaints from that led them to go back to the stoned version

The stoned version? Is that what they're calling the anime pointed eyes? Perhaps I misunderstood.

 

Heh, yeah I think DeanML coined that expression to describe MP-12's eyes.

It's not according to rumour so much as according to ambitron's speculation based on the images we saw in the MP guidebook. There's that simple face drawing that you've posted for Sideswipe, while in the case of the Datsun's Hasui went more into detail to show what he didn't want from the sculptor.


Anyway, no one seems to have mentioned that the head on this reissue quite clearly doesn't close properly. It doesn't look as bad as it does on the KOs but it still seems to be a widespread issue.
