Following on from the news that CW Battle Core Optimus has had his hips fixed I've been pointed towards a gallery that shows the same fix applied to the Wave 4 version of Motormaster and how you tell the difference from the box:

CW Motormaster - Possible Fixed Hips? - Album on Imgur

    EDIT

It would appear that the wave 2 Motormasters have an embossed number on the box starting with a 4, indicating they were manufactured in 2014

The new Wave 4 Motormasters, with the hip fixes, have an embossed number starting with a 5, indicating they were manufactured in 2015.

    EDIT 2:

Found the date code on the toy itself: it's on the inside of his left (our right) foot. Again starts with a 4 for a faulty one, 5 for a fixed one.

I'm blocked from Imgur thanks to School WiFi, but I'd love to see photos! This is really good news!

Images attached to the first post.

Can someone with a Wave 1 Motormaster box check the numbers against the ones shown here? I'm not 100% convinced there is a difference.

Takara's MM also has the fixed hips. Thank Primus for that.

There's no point showing us box photos if we don't know what to look for.

Similar to people who flipped their Brainstorm's when Hasbro did the running change to the neck socket. It's going to be frustrating, but understandable given that it's a pretty obnoxious flaw in a crucial part of the combiner.

That said, as long as you're ordering yours online it shouldn't be too big a concern making sure you don't get a flipped one instead of a new one. And by the time the revised Motormaster is hitting shelves, most people who care will have obtained one online.

Until they also fix the torso stability issues I'm not gonna bother. I don't use the official leg combo anyhow.

Considering I have a different mash-up as well. This doesn't concern me as much.

Every time someone who owns a Motor Master buys him again, a Hasbro employee gets their wings.

Well, I still think Nonnef is going to get my money and I'll upgrade the MM that I have.

And Prime, too, once I figure out what my long term plan is for him.

I wonder if the fixed hips is why Motormaster was included as part of Wave 4 instead of Cyclonus or Hot Spot.

And they repainted Prime so the case includes somebody "new" enough to hold us over until Bruticus and Scattorshot in Wave 5.

Oh god damn it, it also fixes his stance in regular robot mode.

    *sigh*
I have to buy this AGAIN, and I really don't like the damn toy that much.

This mostly affects the combined mode, right? Or does it also give him a better stance in individual robot mode? If the former, I definitely won't bother, as I use the Takara version to display in combined mode and the Hasbro to display as individuals. If the latter.... well, I still probably won't bother. :)

EDIT: Just saw Cheebs' post above me. Hm. Okay, so it DOES affect the individual mode. Still not really sure it's worth it, though.

Why not just buy the nonnef hip ratchets? Even after shipping it's still cheaper than buying an entirely new Motormaster

I honestly don't see how they screwed it up in the first place. I mean, it was a REALLY BAD error.

Still less of an error than Blackjack not being able to attach firmly to the chest, I think. That's just s simple peg-in-hole connection, something they've been doing with weapons forever. And that's not fixed on this release, right? I think I read that the Takara version still can't really have that chest attachment.
