There's a new UK Transformers convention stepping up to pick up the torch from Auto Assembly next August. TFNation 2016 will be held at the Hilton Metropole, Birmingham (aka - the same hotel as Auto Assembly). The dates for your diary, revealed today, are 19 - 21 August, 2016! Never been to Auto Assembly either but going next year. Fortunately 21st is my Birthday so double reason to go
Is there any indication that TFNation is just a redubbed autoassembly? either way it's pretty neat that the UK folks still have a convention to go to.
Heh, that's the name I used years back for my failure of a fansite. I'd like to think that's where they got it, but it's more than likely just a coincidence.
TFNation is not Auto Assembly. Auto Assembly was founded by Sven Harvey and since 2008 run by Simon Plumbe, neither of who are involved in this new show. Also I should point out even before TFNation was announced, we also had Roll Out Roll Call down in Southampton - plus local meets and the like. We always had some kind of convention or gathering to go to - AA was only the biggest of them (broke 1,000 attendees on its last show, and people said a European TF convention would never do that)
I'm making no plans to go because something always crops up to stop attendance happening. But maybe next year if I don't look directly at it and try and creep up on it from the bushes maybe I'll get there before Life notices and tries to bodyblock.
