My Battle Core Optimus Prime has arrived today.

First thing I noticed when I transformed it to Torso mode was there was the sideways movement in the hips felt different from what I remembered from Optimus & Motormaster.

As a result his combined form seems considerably improved!

    Compare and Contrast:

In torso mode it's now possible to lock off the robot mode knees and have the lower legs pointing nearly straight down. Such a position is impossible to achieve with the previous iterations of the toy.

With the limbs attached there's clear air between the leg limbs, a vast improvement on before.

I'd seen a similar fix reported for Unite Motormaster last week so was looking for this.

If anyone's got another Battle Core Optimus I'd be grateful if you could confirm what I'm seeing. It's also worth checking if the second run Motormasters, also in this Voyager wave, have the same fix.

    EDIT:

It appears as if the connection for Blackjack/Rodimus has also been improved: see bellow

    Good to know!

Wonder if the new wave of HASBRO Motormasters has also this improvement.

Is it still worth installing the nonnef hips on these guys?

Shoot, I just got mine yesterday and while it felt like the joints were easier to manipulate I just assumed it was the usual tolerances between figures.

I can confirm that there is more space between the legs when ratcheted in the same way as the first Prime. But I won't be able to actually investigate anything more until I can get home tonight.

Would opening up the leg assembly (as if you were installing Nonnef's upgrades) be enough to look at/confirm that they're different tooling?

    --------------
If you don't already have CW Prime, this one has a nice head sculpt and is an official gestalt if you have the rest of the Autobot car limbs.

To be 100% honest, Red Prime looks *much* better than Battle Core when combined with the cars. But there are some different combinations of limbs that look nice on this guy (white/grey/black).

If you're a completionist, you won't be disappointed. But I won't fault people for passing on this if they have the other Prime already.

Does it also fix the problem where whenever you try to move the combined mode arms the entire combiner chest side/robot mode arm rotates as well?

If so, I have many regrets about getting MM when he first came out instead of waiting.

Such a small improvement that looks fantastic! I'm not sure it's enough for me to want to buy the Core Optimus Prime though, I still enjoy the first red/blue release.

The red Optimus always was better than Motormaster in that respect. This is just the same as the earlier Optimus, much more stable.

yes, still worth it. the improvement gives a more natural leg stance, but doesn't give you double clicks like nonnef's.

I have that issue more with my Motormaster than even my Red Prime. Didn't test Battle Core yet.

    Weeeeell shit...

If only they got this right the first time. Not going to go pick up a second Motormaster in the hope it's corrected and have a useless original one... Great for those of you picking up these ones - this is totally something they should have fixed. But as somebody who got the original I can't help but be just a little pissed..

I gave my motor master to the kids I don't own the mold now .....dammit I said I wouldn't buy him . That head sculpt is amazing the merged colors. On his legs really help the individual bot mode. Looks like a cybertron/ galaxy force prime super charged.

Neat. I don't use the official combination anyway so this doesn't affect me, but great to hear that feedback was taken into consideration.

This shit happens. Seems pointless to get upset.

I saw the question asked on Twitter:

    Dragonface Fan Club ‏@KerryKlan

Using the same Blackjack that won't stay on Menasor if you look at it funny I've managed to get quite a secure connection* to the point where I've picked the toy up, held it chest facing down, shaken it and Blackjack's stayed on.

*I've also had moments where he's not attached at all!

I seem to recall a Hong Kong buyer reporting it as better but not perfect.
