Mystery Weibo Dinobot video

So a mysterious Weibo video of a new Beast Wars Dinobot toy was posted in one of my Washington facebook groups. There's no accompanying information, so what it is exactly is unknown at this point. An upcoming third party product? Someone's garage kit? There's a few things about the engineering that seem slightly atypical for Hasbro, but who knows for sure? Whatever it is, it's a rather nicely designed update to everyone's favorite slag spoutin' saurian.

Interesting. Quite a well done design, with minimal kibble, although there looks to be a considerable gap between the Dino head and chest side walls in bot mode.

 

I don't see why it can't be Masterpiece. Takara said next year is the year of Masterpiece Beast Wars. It looks to be the right size, with Takara's level of engineering.

i'm betting it is either a 3rd party toy, or a home made figure.

it transforms WAY too similar to the original, the limbs are not hollow, and it has more possibility then hasbro has been putting in toys lately. unless it is a Takara exclusive, i doubt this is an official toy. and is probably the third party company trying to ride on the jurassic world wave.

 

I very much doubt that's official. Why? Because if I didn't, I'd become so excited that, if it does turn out to be fan made, it would crush my spirit. I mean, it doesn't look that much better than Universe Dinobot, but the idea of Hasbro doing more BW toys would be too awesome. Good work, whoever made this. I'd definitely buy this if Hasbro released it. It'd be awesome if this was an upcoming 3P product. 3P BW is long overdue.

I'm not convinced this is an official Hasbro/Takara product, like others have said it's transformation is way to similar to the original toy. Although it's nice, it's no huge improvement on the classics mould, which is in need of an update, It could be that I guess. It's certainly not up to standard for Masterpiece.

I wonder if this new Dinobot toy will make an appearance during the 3rd party reveal panel at TFcon Toronto today.

 

It looks a little more developed than previous versions but still had a thick Dino body/underbelly. I'd probably pick it up if colored well.

 

It would be amazing if this was a MP or new Generations Dinobot.

That's the problem, is just decent.

There are some things that I really like about the Universe/Henkei mould like the ability to change Maximal/Predacon symbols and hands/claws but there are also things that I really dislike about it like the poor use of the tail to make both the rotating shield and sword that look terrible and were most likely made that way simply to justify the missile gimmick (don't get me wrong, I love missiles, I think they're the coolest weapons/gimmicks a figure can have but I would have prefered if they focused on a decent sword and shield).

Plus, it was waaay too small especially compared to the recent Beast Wars figures we have been getting but hey, at least it was better than Universe/Henkei Cheetor which is an irredeemable piece of crap and was made purposely that way to justify one of the lamest gimmicks ever.

 

I have a disappointing feeling that this new Dinobot figure will indeed be Third Party.
