Wait, how does the exceptionally cheap price of oil result in hollow limbs?

This. Low oil prices result in low plastic prices, and the complexity and amount of material used in each bot drops as time goes by. There is no reason to have hollow limbs while keeping the same price.

I think they are taking advantage of a niche market that loyally buys things like this because they know how high the demand is for folks inside that niche market, and charge you an arm and a leg while having little to no cost to them. At least that's my theory on the matter of why some Transformers are outrageously expensive in spite of cost cutting corners being taken. In other words, they're going to rape your wallet just because fans pay it. I imagine the mark up from what it costs to make it is probably close to 400%, maybe even more. Working for a big name retail store, I know for fact our company marks up name brands anywhere from 200% - 300% on some things, so collectible Transformers Titans and Masterpieces are most likely more.

The Japanese video is the first time UW Devy has been shown in-hand outside of Yuki's prototype posts right? It was difficult to watch these two clumsily try and unbox this thing for half an hour. The copy these two had was missing a Decepticon symbol on Scrapper's bucket. I hope it's not how the final version we get will be like.

It was moved to his scoop to be more cartoon faithful. It's shown in the most recent pic posted.

EDIT: nvm, when you said bucket somehow I thought his cab. It is indeed missing :redface2:

Thanks Type-R. These are some of the clearest pics yet. Seeing these, I'm so glad TT made the little black guns, those purple extra parts are a good compromise as weapons but still a compromise. If it wasn't for Hasui pushing on Hasbro to modify the extra bits into weapons, the Hasbro Constructicons would all be empty handed. I guess on Thanksgiving day, I'll whisper under my breath, "Thank you TakaraTomy, for upgrading Titan Devastator". Gobble gobble.

I actually prefer Mixmaster's redesign over the antiquated cab-forward one.

I don't mind it... I just wish he didn't have the Waspinator butt.

Regarding the missing Decepticon symbol on Scrapper... I sent a tweet to TFYuki with accompanying pics. Hopefully it's not in the final version. No idea what can be done this close to release though. Early adopters are probably screwed if it's missing.

It's not often that I have been so torn on a figure. On the one hand, I have him on pre-order and I have to say, he just looks amazing!

On the other hand, I've stopped collecting any other new figures besides Masterpieces, and Devastator just doesn't quite fit in my collection. And with that, I mean he literally doesn't fit in my collection: I'm quickly running out of display space!!!

I've been debating the exact same thing myself.

I live in a small room in Japan. Space is at a premium and these things are just multiplying! Devastator is just too damn BIG! But that's exactly the reason I want him! He looks so awesome and big and he'll tower over the MPs!!

And even though the individual robots look cheaper than MPs, I still think the combined form fits in just fine with the MP aesthetically. It has the Hasui seal of approval and everything.

But the last few months I've been back and forth on whether to actually get this guy. I can afford it, so I decided I WILL. It'll never be cheaper than it is now. It's only going to go up in price.

If I buy it and absolutely regret it I can always sell it. But if I pass, and then end up regretting it, it'll cost me a lot more later. So better to buy and regret, than regret not buying! IF the funds are available, that is. I'm not advocating not eating or paying the gas bill cause of toys.

antiquated? it's not like back loaders aren't being made anymore..

it just doesn't make sense. not only does it make the foot look bad and out of proportion, but it also makes the barrel hang down off of his back rather than nice and tight on the top of his back.

anyways.. i'm probably going to get the Dr. Wu mixer.. i'd prefer it have been done the right way in the first place, especially when considering that masterpiece sizes were taken into account. but, if this is going to be the last devastator i buy, i might as well do it right.

Front loaders are non-existent in New England. I can't recall ever seeing one here (remember the Hasbro folks are from RI). So I can see why they made him the front loader kind.

When I was in Chicago for BotCon this year, I took notice if there were any back loader mixers around and sure enough I saw one. They must be common else where in the USA but there are non-existent here in New England (and have been for as far as I can remember).

Seconding this. I've never seen an actual front loader in my entire life. Then again, we could always pick up that Dr.Wu replacement Mixmaster...
