It is a measure of the importance that they attach to the UK toy market.

It seems the British toys are in a decline for sure, I think we don't get any sort of range other countries around the world have which is a shame

What a surprise (not), the UK is basically a neglected backwater as far as the global toy scene is concerned. It's either the Far East, or the US where important shows and decent availability resides. You gotta be rich to afford convention exclusives, 'cos they ain't gonna ever appear over here. Even our own con, Auto Assembly is having its final show this year.

I hope leaks don't happen before New York Toy Fair because I cover New York Toy Fair and it's more exciting when things aren't leaked.

Looks like Hasbro are winding down UK support. Let's hope we get better distribution of next years generations line.

As a UK resident I'm just gonna go out and say - thanks Hasbro!

And thank you to Kapow Toys for whom without I would have given up collecting years ago.

    Here's something which I've noticed.

One of the reasons exhibitors come to Toy Fairs and Licensing Expos is to showcase their brands for potential License Holders. More License Holders = More Royalty. Over the past three years I did not see a significant increase of License Holders for Hasbro during the UK Toy Fair. It was always the same set of companies. Example: During the UK Toy Fair last year, I wrote down the list of new Hasbro Brand License holders on a sheet of paper. BUT the list of new Hasbro Brand License holders during German Toy Fair went on for page after page after page and I was like "WTF!!! How long is this list?". I am not kidding. The list was bigger than what I saw during US Toy Fair and Licensing Expo.

Plus, it's difficult for Hasbro to cover all the events; especially when there are more than 5 Toy Fairs to attend worldwide within 2 months. Regional market-wise, Europe can be catered with the German Toy Fair which Hasbro has confirmed to attend next year. So the list is like this:
    • German Toy Fair - Europe
    • Hong Kong Toy Fair - Asia
    • Melbourne Toy Fair - Australia
    • New York Toy Fair - United States Of America

All of those are happening inside 2 months' time. It's difficult for Hasbro to ship the Toys and booths from continent to continent and even train employees.

Tokyo Toy Show is of course in June and Takara takes care of it.

This is depressing news. At least Hasbro is still attending the 2016 Toy Fairs in Germany, Hong Kong, Australia, and New York!

What are License Holders in this respect? I googled it and came away with Vehicle License holders...

As to Hasbro pulling out of UK Toy Fair? Hmm. Is it such a big deal? I mean presumably the show is to exhibit wares to potential buyers (is that the License Holder bit?) but presumably UK buyers go to The bigger shows in New York, Germany and HK anyway?

Hasbro always save the big release announcements for US toy shows anyway so it's not surprising.

    Still a shame.

but you put it against whats been at other shows and its a drop in the water.

I personally don't care. Its not a show for fans its for retailers and industry types many of whom are not interested carrying the full line any more. So from that angle its smarter of them to move to a show with more potential.

As for Hasbro UK this is the same team of people who think those Asia exclusive coins are not official transformer products, so that shows there level of product knowledge. They are increasingly just a warehouse network then anything else of importance to the brand.
