Like people have been saying, should have used the Fireflight/fly head instead of Slingshot/quick-slinger. But not really a problem for me since I plan to switch out Fireflight's head with a Shapeways head so i'll just repaint the leftover head and give it to Blast off. Other then that HE LOOK BEAUTIFUL!!!!!

 

Onslaught and Swindle are remolded to the point of looking like completely different molds which is a pretty impressive feat and not to mention Onslaught and Hot Spot shared similar design elements to begin with so it makes sense for the Hot Spot mold to be used for Onslaught. Vortex being a repaint of alpha bravo was something a lot of people expected. As for Swindle they could have just ued the Off Road mold with just a new head but they didn't.

 

I hope they keep using CGI renders in the future, they're far more flattering then the gunky paint-caked, photoshopped resin protos we're used to seeing in official photos, or the awkwardly-posed final samples.

The team looks sweet. I've even grown to like Blast-off, on the merits that a jet fits better, and I don't actually own Quickslinger so the head is new to me. (I wish it was actually new, though) These other retools are so extensive though, it's like all new figures. Swingle's badass, and Onslaught is incredible. Bruticus looks sweet. (though weirdly not as cool as the display proto. Something about the lighting and stock-rigid pose...)

 

A thought: since these are computer renders, any chance whoever put together the slideshow colored the wrong version of the Helicopter mold and then whoever put together the display case just continued off of his/her mistake (or vice versa), and that the actual production version will use the closer Firefly head?

 

This. Seriously. Blast Off is one of my favorite guys out of the combiner teams, so I don't like the fact that he's not a space shuttle. But, you know, I get it, a lot of the [meager, I guess, with all these retools and repaints] budget went into Brawl and Swindle. They could have at least done some retooling to make him into some sort of half-assed "space jet" or something, and have given him his own goddamned head. Instead this is a direct repaint, dammit, complete with Slingshot's head-- which looks nothing like Blast Off!  

And it's such a kicker because I really like all the other guys. I mean, they're not perfect (why does Onslaught still have Hot Spot's emergency lights), but they're still great. All except for Blast Off. Well, here's hoping Takara swoops in for the save.

 

These pictures are way more deceiving than their normal Photoshop shenanigans. Bad form, Hasbro.

 

Yeah this is the first time I feel like waiting to see Takara's version between Vortex not having four blades and being far too bright for a character who has a dark palette and Blast Off only having his colour scheme in common with his G1 self it's a no thank you Hasbro pls.

(If Brawl and Swindle show up here I may buy them though)

 

Justify it however you want, but 4 of the 5 are still existing toys. And they look like they are existing toys. Remolding can't hide it.

 

Goddamn it! I was so freaking sure Onslaught was gonna be a new mold. And seriously Hasbro? You couldn't remold Vortex at all?

 

I really hope Brawl's final toy is that definite green, like in these pics and not the more of a brown the display had. Also, while I kinda prefer the greenish brown chest on Bruticus, the grey one is more... Bruticusy, so I hope it's easy to get.

Does "running change" mean that every other Onslaught produced will have the grey or are they going to be in a different wave or what?

 

So now it's a good thing that Hasbro is deceiving us even harder?

It'll have a space shuttle for Blast Off that's for sure. If they cooked up a deluxe Groove then I don't see how they won't pony up a Blast Off.

Fuck Hasbro though. Not buying any more fucking CW trash.

 

brawl looks green in some of the real pics. irl he's probably green. bruticus' colors in the cgi render look a lot better.
