Bluestreak will be debuting at SDCC this year! Interesting enough, he'll be one of the TRU exclusives (this is known) available online and at the con. Strange that he won't be getting a brick and mortar release.

oh awesome, another tru exclusive MP and there's even less places to get it.

On the bright side, TRU making the US Masterpieces web-exclusive should hopefully cut down on scalping of the line, so long as they're sensible and implement a per-customer limit.

 

If it can cut down on the scalping then it's definitely a good thing. It shouldn't be such a challenge for people to get them in stores. These products are on the shelves for customers, not resellers. If you're filling up a shopping cart with MP's you're doing it wrong.

 

Seriously why did he refer to MP Bluestreak as a harbinger,that implies it as being bad news,but given how both Quickslinger and Brake Neck did the same thing I think it as a good thing so its not only ToysRUs who get him but also walmart.com and BBTS and so forth.And with that maybe just maybe the price ain't gonna be so high,maybe $50-$60 instead of $80 that TRU charges.I can't wait and I do plan on getting Bluestreak.

 

Woot, another worry subsides. I was ticked I couldn't get SDCC tickets this year, but the Hasbro exclusives are a pass, this is a pass. Just as long as there's no Venture Bros exclusive this year (from EE) and Pacific Rim exclusive from NECA, all I have to worry about is MOTUC hover 'bots going up for re-sale.

 

Considering TRU STILL has Prowl from last year, this isn't the most surprising thing.

But there was no price listed anywhere.

 

Bluestreak WILL NOT be available at Walmart or BBTS; definitely not Walmart and only BBTS if they buy any through TRU.com or Entertainment Earth's booth.

Hasbro is also doing an exclusive through TRU/EE's booth for GI Joe this year, which is just one of the fall line's vehicle sets with an additional 2 figures. Seeing as Bluestreak is just a repaint/remould and has already been released, it isn't a surprise to see them do this.

Again: This will ONLY be available through TRU.com and at the convention itself. Any other retailers will have to buy them through that channel and resell them.

 

Where are you reading that Walmart and BBTS will be getting Bluestreak?

He's still going to be a TRU exclusive. He will be available at the TRU booth at SDCC and at the TRU website. He will just not be available in TRU brick and mortar stores in the US.

(He is available at TRU stores in Australia already.)

 

Kinda disappointed. I really wanted my Hasbro Prowl to have a buddy but they're making this harder than it needs to be. I prefer to use cash on in store purchases so I can budget not cash for other things and I can't do that if it's not in store. Also why has it taken them till SDCC? This thing was announced last botcon. Does this mean Sideswipe's also getting the same treatment?

They already implemented that in store. With Grimlock they did it once Grimlock was more widely available and kept it at the customer service desk; the same was initially true of Sunstorm and Prowl).

 

Same w/ Soundwave from the year before, but only after a certain someone had to suggest it to them.

 

It really sucks for those who like to use layaway to pay for expensive stuff over time...damn bills.

I'll be very surprised if he's not available at brick and mortar stores. TRU has already done this a number of times with their MP exclusives. They sell them first at SDCC with a special sticker on them and then they show up at retail shortly after.

 

Typically after the convention's over... that gives Convention Scalpers a couple of days to take advantage of the impatient, "gotta have it now!" types.

If they have adequate supply and if they regulate it to a two per customer purchase like they've done with the last few releases, this may work out nicely. Though I doubt any of us will be able to take advantage of a BOGO offer like many of us did with Prowl and Sunstorm this way.
But since they are basically just charging you more for the Takara version in a new box, I ask again, why are people even bothering with a Hasbro release?
