Why does this Scourge always have to be a nigh - unobtainable exclusive??? Sigh. Either way, looks great.

Armada Megs really depends on if you want a toy homage or a cartoon homage. Hasbro homages the original Armada toy, Takara homages the Armada cartoon. Both carry out their respective homages well, tho I favor the Takara. Shame it's also next to impossible to aquire.

Edit: Takara Armada Megs actually looks quite reminiscent of Armada Megs Cybertronian mode in the first Ep of Armada.

 

This round Takara, the missing purple on the US version really hurts the overall look even if you're not into the homage.

Makes it look too much like normal megs wearing a costume. Too much silver. That's why its shelf warming. Its just uninspired coloration.

 

The Armada Megatron is an improvement in some ways but off in some other ways, even taking the show into account. He should have an orange stripe on his antlers, for one. The center of his chest should be dark gray. Vehicle mode is essentially the same. I have to admit, overall he looks good though.

Scourge looks good too, slightly better than the TFCC version, which is one of their only decent figures.

 

Black Convoy seems really bare in alt mode. I like the tiny symbols on his shoulders. Still, I'm satisfied with the TFCC figure. The Armada Megatron certainly goes much further to look like his source character than the Hasbro version. Not something I'd chase but looks good.

 

Takara's version is definitely his Cybertronian body from the first episode. Very cool.

 

How can I get Black Convoy?

 

First option is to look for someone who lives in Japan and attends the fair and ask him to get one for you. That would be the cheaper way, but you have to know someone for that.

Second option is looking at Japanese auction sites or chain stores that sell online (Mandarake, Jungle), they are bound to get some since some people will buy two and sell the other one there. You'll have to monitor those sites after the event to snatch one and hope it isn’t ridiculously overpriced.

Third option, eBay.

I know it sucks, I would rather have Black Convoy as a regular release for the regular deluxe price, but I'm gonna watch the online stores and hope to get one for a fairly reasonable price.

 

Still waiting for Takara to do a Armada Galvatron repaint.
Also for crying out loud people. Being able to find a figure easily does not equal shelfwarming. Shelfwarming is when a figure is still able to be found long after its life cycle. Shelfwarming is a bad thing. Combiner wars is an active line, being able to find a figure from that line is not a bad thing.

 

Past Tokyo Toy Show exclusives haven't been too scarce/expensive on the aftermarket so I wouldn't lose hope just yet.

That Black Convoy is awesome, like he's in fury mode. I might look into him. But that Megatron is only going to be worth pursuing if you are a big Armada fan, because he's going to be a bit tougher to get.

 

Hopefully... I don't have much connection to said aftermarket.

 

It's odd that the clear parts on Black Convoy are red and not pink.

 

Not sold on Takara's attempt at RID Scourage. Funpub actually did it better, IMO. It was their limiting the use of red running all throughout the figure. Doesn't look good as it just seems to break the figures look up to much.

As for that Armada Megatron, hot damn that's awesome! Ugh, and they are really limiting its availability too. That's pretty frustrating as I know that a lot of people are going to want this.

 

Now, THAT is an improvement, at least speaking only about Armada Megatron. Really like the combination of colors and little touches in the headsculpt.

I'm not sure about that Scourge but if it's cheaper than the Club version then I will most likely get it.

 

I wouldn't count on that bro. If you want it get it I would plan on searching for this copy.
o. I'm guessing it will be easy to aquire eventually and waiting may result in saving money.

Personally I love it the dark purple around the helmet and chest stand out to look very anime accurate compared to hasbro's

 

Might have to get Black Convoy.

 

These are fantastic exclusives. If I ever choose to get the Armada Megatron, it will be this version.

I'm not the biggest fan of the RTS Laser Prime mold but Black Convoy I definitely need, I love how he's even got the incorrect logos on his shoulders.
