Just got this, funny this is how Joecon started and they didn't go live until 14 before the show

    MHello Everyone!

We are still working on the final issues to get registration online. This will not happen before next Thursday. I will update you as we get the final issues completed.

The hotel is working on finding some more rooms for our block. I have not heard back from them yet. Currently they are searching for duplicate rooms so if you have a room you are not going to use, please release it so someone else can reserve it. Remember that you must put down a first nights deposit and if you don't cancel by the cut off you will lose the deposit.

If they don't find more rooms for us, we will get a block at a second hotel so, no worries. I'll let you know as soon as they figure out what they can do.

    See you in St. Charles!

    Brian

Well as long as it's not this 14 days before crap like JoeCon. At least it sounds like they're trying to work out the bugs before putting it online...hopefully.

I consider myself lucky I have gone to 5 botcons and 2 joecons and never had one issue getting logged on and getting what I want and it was always smooth.

But I have heard of some horror stories

I assume they outsource their software, and whoever they outsource it to redefines inept. It's the SAME FUCKING PROCESS every year. They add some variation on the hats and shit, that's about it, but every year it sounds like whoever is doing it rewrites the entire fucking thing.

It'd be like if every time you wanted to buy something from BBTS, they said WAIT SORRY, YOU MAKE A NEW SHOPPING CART, WE GOTTA REWRITE THE SOFTWARE EACH TIME TO HANDLE EVERY PERSON'S NEW SHOPPING CART!!!

I assume whoever they're paying, Brian gets them real cheap. However, seeing as how he's paid them year after year to keep rewriting the same buggy system, he should've paid for quality software the first time through, with only some small maintenance when new options with special rules were added (like Golden Ticket, or Welker VIP).

Hell even then, you get a real life example, and you design your software so that you can make options only available depending on other options,a nd make it configurable.

Sorry for the ranting. As a software developer this stuff burns me up. Along with "A billion years later and we still can't get member forums or a decent member portal up". Too bad I cost more than FP could/would pay, haha. I'd love to do their stuff for them.

I've gone every year since 06. The only issues I have ever had were trying to get in the custom class. It kept saying both days were sold out. Meanwhile many of my friends who registered much later in the day were able to do so. For everything else, I don't know if I've just been incredibly lucky or what. That was infuriating though. The class was meant to be a birthday gift from my girlfriend. I was glad they started offering the figure the next year because I really wasn't looking forward to being disappointed like that again. Here's to hoping we get registration by Friday so we can all just relax.

Likewise, only thing I'm worried about registering for is the customization class and that's mainly because I'd like to get that exclusive in addition to the early package pickup the class gives.

While the custom class does tend to sell out quickly, I noticed that it didn't go as quick as it once did now that they offer the pre-assembled one for purchase.

Is there any con or fan event that is easy to register for? Being available at precisely the moment or shortly after registration goes live and getting registered for everything you want can be so stressful. If you're working or a student, good luck! It would almost, almost make sense to make the registration live in the evening hours when most people will be free to do so.

Update today from club and it looks like Joecon all over again

    Hello Everyone!

We continue to work on the final issues to get registration online. This will not happen this week. I will update you next week. Now you don't have to worry about checking the site this week.

The hotel has told us that they are sold out and cannot add anymore rooms to our block. You will have to look for accommodations elsewhere if you don't have a room yet. We also cannot find a hotel in close proximity to the event to get a second block.

The good news is that the parking is free at the hotel for BotCon.

    See you in St. Charles!

    Brian

Prediction for next week's update: "We will update you again next week."

At this point I'm just hoping it'll be up before the end of May.

That's exactly what they did for Joecon each week and I bet it won't go up till first of June
