You think Michael Bay's just gonna take that from an actual cannibal like Shia LaBeouf?

Reads more like he's criticizing Bay for not even trying to do something with the movies than anything else, to me.

It's true. The name of Bumblebee is really strange for a main character.

    Meh.
He is already replaced my Mark Walhberg who happens to take pleasure his job.

    Plus

What did Shia's character do in the movied except running around yelling "Optimusss!!" or "Beee"?

    Yes i know
Cade Yeager may have not been Mark Walhberg's best roles but he does put more realistic acting and is a way better Male Lead that Shia.

On one hand what he says about the fact that both the actor and the director really need to believe in these characters in order to make it work is very true, and I personally think that this is something Bay ultimately failed to do. (i.e. The Transformers were primarily catalysts for the action and props for the action sequences, and not really characters.)

Then he follows it up with the statement about when you both believe, then you really are in this alternate universe. That part makes it seem like the first part was talking about how ridiculous things were and in the hypothetical wrong hands it would be terrible, but that they somehow found a way to make it work. If there is one thing you hear a lot about Bay regardless of his final product, he is a true believer as far as the passion and energy he puts into his films. So I'm thinking this statement is not as critical as some might think.

That's a lot of fucking fuck bombs right fucking there. Though, at very fucking least, fucking Shia didn't do something fucking creepy this fucking time.

Shia Fucking LaBeouf doesn't fucking care what that fuck Michael Bay fucking thinks.

Sour grapes? He's right about Bay, but the fact that we just had a movie with characters named "Rocket Raccoon" and "Groot" kind of disproves the whole Bumblebee thing.

I mean yeah, Bumblebee's an odd name, but "Bee" is no stranger a name than say "Batman" or "Chewbacca".

    Exactly this.

Shia is right. I came to these boards a f-ing Movie fan and I still do have a soft spot, but what Shia says is right, Bay really doesn't take you out of your seat into the world of Transformers, he gives you the good guys, the bad guys and explosions 4 f-ing times.

I think Hell just froze over. I agree with Shia LaBeouf.

I didn't view that as a criticism of the name Bumblebee, as much as a critique of the Bayformers lack of substance or depth. This opinion isn't anything new or noteworthy. If Ive offended any movie fans, I didn't intend too. Your movie franchise is beyond safe.

I get what he means. If the director isn't 'selling' the actor on the concept or the actor isn't able to mentally get themselves into that head space of make believe then it can make getting into this fake thing called Bumblebee all the more difficult. But he's an actor and that's the job.

Ultimately I thought Shia did a terrific job of making it seem like BB was a real character and not just a CGI creation. He interacted and emoted with BB in every way necessary- esp. in movie one- to make me believe in him. Shia did an excellent job, whether he likes those movies or not.

So Basically the take away is what alot of us disgruntled fans thought. Michael Bay didnt give a shit about theses movies nor the characters. He pretty much used you heroes and story lines as just a set piece for a Baygasm.

Screw anyone who defends Michael Bays rediculous take on these movies now. You have time and time again seen former actors and set hands come out and say he is horrible and could care less about the fans or franchise. Hell even Optimus ( Cullen ) himself didnt like being OPS.

All that anyone ever wanted was a Tranformers movie we could recognize and get the visceral thrill of the Transformers mixed with the characters we all know and love. Im not even saying just G1 mix em all in. But this movie verse was a joke and a half the movies are barely rewatchable. Id rather look at the still shots and marvel at the great art than ever see this as a movie. Its a CGI demo and Bay reaped the rewards while doing nothing.
Id rather have no movies than continue bastardizing the franchise so many love.

We were told it had to be this way then yet you see the avengers looking like and being them selves with areas of disbelief friggin large and other movies doing the same thing. Hell what would you rather watch now xmen wearing all black leather or something like the avengers where its more accurate to the source. rant done drops mic walks away. ...... for good

I think what he's saying is that you can do a movie with silly names and concepts based on pulpy sci-fi properties, but it needs soul. You have to believe in it, and being in a thoroughly unenthusiastic atmosphere is soul crushing.

Spot on. The movies were ATROCIOUS. No real plots. Lots of problems with what little plots they had. HORRIBLE designs that Bay's ego picked b/c I remember a quote from about wanting something that wouldn't be recognizable as TF's, but as his own designs...F**k Bay. Hopefully they get a director that can the franchise justice. Someone who's own ego doesn't get in the way of making a great franchise!
