"Each version of the release will feature several special features in addition to the episodes. The Blu-ray will retail for about 6000 Yen while the DVD comes in at about 4,800 Yen." These things practically are the special features--as in, they would come buried in the menu of some other Transformer-related media...which would still be cheaper than 4800Y. Or are DVD's really that expensive in Japan?
DVD's and Blu-Ray's are very expensive in Japan and mainly targeted at the enthusiast market. It's a general perception that most non-collectors don't want to own shows and would rather just rent or watch them on TV. This is especially true for anime which tend to be priced so high as the distributors believe that only otaku will buy the discs.
I still need proper subs for this series. I wish Hasbro had been releasing these so we could get a dub of them...though I'm sure the dub would be half-assed, I imagine the voice work would end up being like those Cyber Missions abominations.
Not to derail the thread, but what exactly are they gaining from this? Wouldn't it be better to price the sets more soundly, so that more people would buy them? I'm just sayin', cause there's some anime series that don't get a second season due to poor sales, which I think the exorbitant prices play into.
Really, where? I thought I downloaded episode 12, turned out it was corrupted later on when I tried to watch it. Now they took that UM episode off from YouTube. If anyone still have a different link, PM me, thanks. UM character ID is QT-21, every other character got release according to their ID number. Unfortunately, for UM, that's not the case. QT-21 will be released as Skids....current QT-25 will be Lockdown. Looks like they are skipping my little bugger UM. Bummer, I want that QT UM very much.
It's pretty cool Takara released a Blu-Ray for it....meanwhile Shout Factory refuses to do a full season box set for Rescue Bots. :|
