Sadly true. Whether it's Ironhide, Megatron or Scrounge, whatever is teased later this month or in January won't be with us earlier than August (delayed to September). :(

Though I don't want the windshield heads.I would like them to have conventional heads like in the g 1 series.

Takara reference the cartoon for robot mode designs right down to the colour of bumpers generally, so you should be safe on that one, if this is true.

I won't complain at all if Ironhide and Ratchet are coming our way. Bring on the Nissan vanette bros! "Let's bust some Deceptichops!"

:lol  Oh, you just had to didn't you! MP-20S Sunstreckor.....

Hoping they keep to a similar strategy of one large MP (Megatron?) to two or three smaller MPs (Ratchet/Ironhide, Mirage?).

Rumour or not, Ratchet/Ironhide makes sense. Designers like em, they're Nissan alt modes, popular characters that haven't really had modern G1 toys, and lets face it, there'll be at least two different toys with next to no mold differences, and where both of them were named movie characters (past and present).

If the rumors do hold true, I can see folks flooding the secondhand market with the iGear PP05 van bros (I won't be one of them as I really like them as Classics iterations of the characters). Hopefully that means I can pick up a (2nd) Weapon Specialist on the cheap.

Combine a possible MP Ironhide with X-TB Apollyon, lot of fans (myself included) can't wait to recreate the "Such heroic nonsense!" scene from the TFTAM film. :D

I really hope they have the sleds - I know they never appeared much in the fiction but then neither did Prime's trailer much. I'd also love it if the toys could replicate the windshield over face look as a sort of extra mode.

I blame Exhaust! MP-25 and MP-26 being Ironhide and Ratchet means Megatron can't be MP-25! So if Exhaust hadn't used up MP-23 then Megatron would still have a number! :mad  The numbers made Megatron and all his design work and new tooling evaporate!

Well... Unlike Ultra Magnus' white truck robot mode, Ratchet's MARB did appear in the first episode... So there's hope. I just hope there's an option for a comics inspired head.

Yes - and they were on the character model sheets too. I just remember having so much fun with the original Ratchet sled when I was young and would want it included. (And I'd prefer the red cartoon accurate head too!)

They could very easily pull off cartoon accurate robot modes by including the sleds, the only question would be scale.

I'd *really* want them to include a red comic-accurate head as an option (with the white and black cartoon head installed by default), the same as iGear did, as my love for Ratchet comes entirely from the Marvel comics (facing off with Megatron with the help of the Dinobots). Sadly, I doubt it will happen given that the MP line has been entirely cartoon-focussed aside from the MP-08x repaint.

As for sleds, I don't mind either way, but I think we'll get all-in-ones, purely because Ironhide and Ratchet are larger than the other cars and they are going to need all of the mass of the Vannettes to achieve that. The iGear vans are a little too small for MPs as both vans and robots, by about the same amount in both modes, and they use all of the van mass as it is.

Ironhide and Ratchet would be perfect for adding size variation to the line along with Bumblebee (although sadly not colour variation - all that white and red! We need Hound and Mirage for that).

    That's a good point

I think someone on AC Toys put forth that sleds would increase playability, which is true enough. I do wonder which road Takara will go down. They're probably pondering the exact same things as us!

I vastly prefer an all-in-one transformation (if iGear can pull if off, so can TT) and having no sleds. Sleds are just kibble taking up valuable display real estate to me (playability amounts to me messing with the thing once and then relegating it into the back of my shelf; I'd keep it in the box if it only it wasn't required for transformation; partsforming at the MP level would really bug me too). Ratchet's sled appeared once and only once in the cartoon (Ironhide's never materialized), and then was never seen again. Unlike Prime's trailer which always appeared (seemingly from out of nowhere) whenever he transformed into alt mode.

So, looking at those pictures, the amount of remoulding required is going to be pretty much the same as the differences between Prowl and Bluestreak - different heads, different crotches and sirens on Ratchet. Probably different shoulders, too, if they mould the crosses in for Ratchet. (Where do you get all those artwork pictures from, by the way?)

So the differences between the two molds should be their heads, their hips, their forearms (Ratchet was often drawn with the segmented lines seen in these character models), and Ratchet's lightbar. Maybe the red crosses on his shoulders would have some relief to them as well? I'm fine with sleds or all in ones, but an all in one is definitely more cartoon accurate. I think Ratchet's sled was only seen in one scene the pilot, though of course Bumblebee rode in the back of Ironhide and fired his gun. I'm sure they'll have hand attachments as well, with Ratchet's being his welding torch and Ironhide's his three nozzled liquid hose thingy. I'd love it if Ratchet came with Sparkplug and Ironhide came with Carly!

I'd be ok with no sleds as long as Ironhide comes with that gun that mounts on his back in MTME (and that it can mount in his open rear doors too).

I agree that since my MPs are usually in bot mode I don't really want two sleds taking up space on my shelf. Prime's trailer is big enough as is!
