That's the handy thing about a plot like this - our heroes will obviously set time right again and things will go back to normal, and nobody in RID will be required to notice or remember it. Its a problem that solves itself.

I've got to say, it's a bit weird having this "you thought it was the past, it's actually an alternate present" fake-out so soon after the "you thought it was the future, it's actually an alternate (well, duplicate) present" fake-out of the previous arc. I'm interested to see where this all goes, though.

Brainstorm mustve dealt with Megatron.

This is the alternate present showing us how Cybertron wouldve been had there not been a war. No Megatron, no uprising. The functionist Council pretty much runs the planet.

Minimus isnt Ultra Magnus here. He makes a quip about Pretenders but essentially he was a pretender wearing the magnus armor.

What if Brainstorm went back in time to stop the Ark-1 from leaving?

Nova runs the planet. Brainstorm went back to save himself. If theres no discovery of the DU then Brainstorm doesnt "die"

Isnt he supposed to have been affected by the DU? This way he wont be. There was never a DU.

 

Dunno. If he went back to stop Ark1 from taking off then why would he go back to a point millions of years after the fact. If he didn't want to be affected by the DU he could have just gone back to before the Lost Light took off because that's when he got infected by it.

Does being undead even bother Brainstorm? I don't think Brainstorm is just a Decepticon sleeper agent. I'm starting to suspect the truth is going to be far more shocking.

I'd be worrying if I was Minimus. He turns into a minesweeper. The functionalist council has no problem "Decommisioning" lines that no longer serve a purpose. Cybertron is no longer going to be at war. No need for minesweepers.

And here is an even more horrifying thought. Via their purging the Functionalist council may have killed more Cybertronians than the war.

Man, if Combiners had existed when the Funcionalists were in power, that might have really set them off. You could have a group of kitchen appliences... That turn into a giant juggernaut of destruction. And I don't think this future has been nice to the cassetes who have beast modes but no humaniod ones. I imagine the functionalists hate that.

 

I really think this arc is going to prove that the war needed to happen. That Megatron in fact was right to do what he did. The planet needed to be saved.

One thing I'm wondering is if this is actually a case of "this is what happens if Brainstorm DOESN'T go back in time."

As if he hadn't, that Nucleon accident wouldn't have happened and Trepan wouldn't have stopped his work, resulting in an impotent Megatron.

Also, as an aside... Messatine is the planet where Delphi is, and Roberts has said that "Don't go to Delphi" hadn't happened yet.

The irreducible Minimus is closer to Rewind's hight, so the Minimus in the previews must be one of his outer shells. Unless he decided to ditch the shell idea and just transferred into a more conventional frame with a minesweeper alt-mode.

But that is also a problem for Minimus because the Functionists have made it quite clear that if you don't fit in with their idea of the perfect society, if you go against the system in anyway, then they will deal with you.

How would they feel about a spark that can adapt to any body it's put in with no ill effects.

 

So, yeah, the war was a good thing compared to...this.

 

The Gold and Purple guy that Drift is about to kill looks familiar. Does he have a name or is it just a generic bot?
