We've got another great new Generations toy gallery to share with you. This time out, we have a gallery of a Headmaster and the Lost Light's mad scientist in residence - Brainstorm!

Generations Brainstorm does a grand job of updating the chunky original Generation 1 Brainstorm and his boxy proportions with a more modern and decidedly less boxy appearance, based on the More than Meets the Eye comic. It gives Brainstorm a very striking silhouette - this toy looks extremely good in both modes!

Brainstorm is also fun to fiddle with. As with most modern toys, he lacks waist articulation, and his wrists do not rotate, but everything else is there - including ball-jointed head articulation, which is cleverly incorporated into the Headmaster gimmick. Arcana has limited articulation when he's not being Brainstorm's noggin, with just his arms and head (!) being poseable. One word of warning - watch the blue-green paint on Arcana's legs, it seems to chip very easily.

Overall, Brainstorm looks great and is fun to play with. He's one of the most dynamic looking Voyagers to come out what has been an excellent year for the size class, capturing the spirit of the character extremely well and generally being a good, fun toy. Be a smart robin and check out the gallery to see for yourself:

Great photos. I think it is my favourite official release of the year.

Wow, Arcana looks like he's been through the mill already. Not a good sign.

It's something with that particular paint - the Autobot symbol on my Tailgate also scratched right off and it was the same shade.

I'm guessing it's got adhesion issues - not great, no. But fortunately, not as visible in the mode I'm likely to leave Brainstorm in most of the time.

I don't even bother with the Headmaster gimmick and just turn the head around while transforming him.

To be honest, I wish that all Headmasters would be made so they don't HAVE to be taken off when transformed.

I like it & I really do look forward to owning it, but why do G1 plastics look so much better? G1 Brainstorm's plastic looks denser to me somehow, though perhaps of a more brittle consistency. Anyway, I hope to get mine soon. Hasbro gets a solid "A" grade from me; not perfect, but very good.

The only thing I don't like is how obviously simplistic the transformation is... you just tuck the legs behind the back and fold the front out, and then tuck the arms behind the biceps. There isn't much to it, and frankly, that bothers me...

The pilot is quite ugly in the arms but nobody buys a Headmaster primarily for the pilot. I think this will be my first purchase since Voyager Springer (with a Magnus shortly to come after this, depending on final pics of Masterpiece Magnus).

G1 though it may be, I don't like it. It just seems lazy to me.

Love this figure, really G1 based, specially the simple transformation.

The briefcase was made by a forum member for Smart Robin.

Great gallery, really makes me want to pick this guy up even more.

Yes, it's MegaMoonMan's one. Really complements the look well though the fit is a little snug because it was made with Smart Robin in mind.

    Thanks for the complements all!

the paint is getting so bad I think Hasbro should just give up on it entirely and use different colored plastics entirely like how gundam models are.
