I've always wondered about that; who came up with SW's paint scheme? Was it in-house from Takara or is it from Hasbro Asia because as paint schemes go it's pretty inconsistent with Starscream's paint job. I wonder if we'll see an actual Takara version in the future?

This news sounded interesting but i'm disappointed that there isn't a premium paint job. I have Barricade already so if i buy this i'll be wasting one figure. Although the chance to grab a Soundwave now is pretty cool but the triology toys are kind of passe now if you ask me.

So mine showed up yesterday. Maybe it's the pictures of the original HA Soundwave I'm looking at, but it does look like the paint is different.

The pics here show me a flat grey color, almost identical to DotM Deluxe Sideswipe. But what I have has a metallic grey/silver finish.

edit: OK, nevermind. Just watched a video review of him and it's the exact same paint job for alt mode. Which makes me question even more why I waited to buy him until now, since it's really not that bad.

Manage to put together my OWN Asia Ex 2-pack by finding two steals of a deal on these figures. :)  (thanks Red Snarl)

I even used my all time fav Metallic Spray Paint on Frenzy and dotted his eyes blue. WHAT A DIFFERENCE!!!

Ew, the overhead light makes the blue paint look terrible! I can promise you it doesn't look like that in hand! lol

    ???

Are you saying they actually painted Soundwave? or are you describing the color of grey plastic they used?

Sounds to me like he's saying it's exactly the same.

I'm saying it was never plain grey plastic, even on the original. It's that metallic, swirly stuff. Not painted, but also not flat grey.

Here ya go. Took like 10 pics, this is the only one that shows the metallic grey. It's much easier to see in person.

    No problem.

When I think of flat grey, I think of DotM Deluxe Sideswipe. This guy as least has a metallic look, in the right lighting.

WOW, just picked up HA Soundwave separately at a STEAL of a price....and I gotta say, WHAT A FIGURE!

I can see now why people are paying out the a$$ for this guy, although the prices I came across while shopping of this guy were ludicrous.

    Anyway.

I'd like to reiterate something that I find myself saying over and over....people tend to make TOO BIG A DEAL out of little shortcomings a figure may have. In this case, the lack of "shiny paint" and the "legs". Not for one second do either of those issues take away from the sheer awesomeness of this figure....and leading up to this purchase, all I read and saw on youtube were people bitching and complaining about those two things.

I almost didn't get this figure because of that. Glad I did though.

    BADA**!!!!
