The weapons rule probably has two reasons: 1) Toy gun regulations. You start inching over that 100mm limit and you could make something that looked enough like a small holdout pistol or whatnot to seem real enough to cause trouble. 2) swords of that length could technically be considered knives, and depending on the material and the design they could be functional ones. It's probably a liability thing, and they're being cautious.

To be fair, Shapeways has its own rules about this independent of the ones from SuperFanArt.

The designer sets the markup total, and Hasbro takes their percentage out of that. So it is entirely up to the designer.

    That would have been "SkyFire.
And whose toes would that step on? The 3P that's making him?

I don't see how, seeing as how guidelines prohibit a good amount of things that people would want to do.

Well, if you break the rules, at least for now, you still can sell your design on Shapeways, you just don't get to be on SuperFanArt. We will wait to see if Hasbro asks Shapeways to remove the designs that get turned down.

I wonder would re-shells be allowed...for example to want to create a figure that Has/Tak hasn't made in a particular line...you have an existing figure that has similar proportions and transformation...so you strip existing figure down to the skeleton pretty much...design the new head and accessories as well as the vehicle shell to fit in place of the existing vehicle parts...now you'd have a more believable version of this customized updated version of the previously non-existent figure as opposed to just a <insert color> version of <existing character>...so example would be like RTS Wheeljack to Shapeways Downshift...create a new head, weapons based on the G1 weapons, front end and rear vehicle parts replacement to make the vehicle look more like the Toyota Supra or a more recent replacement of it...

There goes my hopes of Arms Microns due to the "construction" element and ability to transform. I want my rhino hammer, darnit. :(

If you say it makes it more like a "Toyota Supra" in the description, it would get rejected based on rule 22, no real-world vehicles. Other than that, upgrades would probably be fine.

I doubt assembly counts as "construction", they are looking to keep it from being a Lego accessory.

A BMOG-like design would probably be okay, if it was built with all 5mm pegs.

Anyways, no one can stop you from making Arms Microns on Shapeways, they just won't be listed on SuperFanArt.

Yeah, same here. I get Hasbro's protecting protecting its own interests and everything, but if I can't get transforming Transformers -or- get things for the one good non-transforming line, what's the point?

EDIT: Actually... this could be useful for oddball characters like Autobot X/Spike, Megatron-fused-with-Ratchet, and the like.

Action masters that don't need to be assembled... there will not be much action there.
