Congrats on the news credit ssjkazer :)

Guys, welcome to the world of New Zealand TF collecting, where the prices are made up and discounts don't matter.

Well, many do speak with their wallets by buying what they like at prices they feel comfortable paying/can afford.
While it's always a great feeling to find toys for cheap, others are not going to forgo buying toys at prices they feel comfortable with so you can consistently get 9.99&below Deluxes. Nor should they be expected to. You need gas (depending where you live). You don't need toys.

Edit: Anyways, this is the only AOE figure I'd be happy to shell out some serious cash for. Glad I bid my time and waited to pull the trigger, though.

Wait, I'm supposed to stop buying toys I like because some other guy doesn't like paying what they cost?

Yes, this country is a terrible, awful place, because it's expensive to buy toys.

To my knowledge we've had all currently released Deluxe and Voyager AoE figures. If you don't want to pay retail prices then that's fine, don't. I don't see why this is a reason to call a country shit.

You don't wanna pay that much, good for you. Some people will pay more to have stuff sooner hence why BBTS has a market with those people. For the rest of us it's a matter of can we afford it, is it still not too high, and is there a risk we won't see the thing again cuz there is. I skipped Waspinator once and never saw him again. So you're right; you don't have our support. We buy what we want when we feel comfortable. And if your Walmart has a good stock, then good for you. Some of us don't have the luxery of good Walmarts so a standard $14.99 places that keep better than crap stock are good enough.

I haven't seen them around, unless they've literally just arrived because I haven't hit up the shops in the last couple of weeks, but they've never stocked Grimlock nor Evasion Optimus, and so I still don't have a Grimlock because I decided to pass on the Japanese one (huge mistake).

That's your prerogative. I would never buy from Toy World here in New Zealand, for instance, unless they're on deep clearance. They're owned by Toys 'R' Us, by the way.

For the record, I almost exclusively buy Transformers from Japan, because TakaraTomy's quality is almost always better, and they're still cheaper than buying them from New Zealand (well, okay, usually a little more expensive after shipping, but shipping from Japan to NZ is really cheap, so it's negligible for a superior product).

Correction: Deluxes cost NZ$20 during RID, shifted to NZ$25 with Armada/Universe, and switched to NZ$30 with the first movie and Animated.

The prices are still bullshit, though, and yes, usually we get jack.

And to add to that, some of us don't have a choice. Even if we import from BBTS, for example, we still end up paying more. It's rare for us to get Transformers for the same price as the US, especially after shipping. Hell, I realised the other day that the Rescue Bots are also highly inflated.

All that being said, being in New Zealand is a little more convenient than being in, say, the US, for buying Japanese Transformers, especially when it comes to the Masterpiece line. The exchange rate is OKAY (it was better about a year ago, albeit not by much), and shipping from Japan to NZ is cheap enough that it's much cheaper to buy Japanese Transformers straight from a Japanese retailer such as HLJ.

You've proven time and time again that you're clueless (just like your terrible website filled primarily with bigotry and backstabbing for anyone you decide you don't like), so please don't try to correct me when you're wrong. Also, I never said "New Zealand is shit because it's expensive to buy toys". That'd be immature. I said New Zealand is shit, because it is, for many more reasons than toys being expensive.

Need I remind you that you're also one of the people that complained about Masterpiece Star Saber? I think I've made my point. Get your facts straight before you insult someone.

EDIT: Apparently, clueless is an insult. I'm sorry, but that is ridiculous. But I took out the word "pathetic", since it's "so insulting". If I'm banned over this, so be it. If I'm not allowed freedom of speech, then what's the point?

To my knowledge my post did not contain any sort of insult toward you, I merely stated that all Generations AoE figures have been released in New Zealand, there have been numerous reports of voyagers, deluxes and leader class figures spotted across the country.

Back on topic, it's been a good while since we've had a near-world first sightings. I remember how relatively common this was during the Energon days, getting figures like Mirage weeks before sightings across the rest of the world, it's unfortunate TF sales have lowered here in recent years. Nice spotting SSJ!

Nice find, noticed The Warehouse in Johnsonville of all places had him the other day and the new wave of Mashables that included Rodimus. Anyone know if any retailer in NZ ended up carrying the Generations Metroplex or did everyone have to import it?

Metro was import-only by all accounts - one of my fellow TFNZers talked with Hasbro and there wasn't the retailer interest. Sad but true. Which is why it's only now I'm getting one myself, on layby from another collector!
