This is an odd one. About 16 hours ago, Variety put up a news article claiming that Hasbro will move the next Transformers series off of Discovery Family and air it on Cartoon Network. They have since pulled the article down, but there's copies of it floating about the web still.

If you run a Google search, a link to the now-dead page still shows up at the top of the search results, like so:

According to some corners of the Internet, the Google cache shows the contents of the page. I haven't been able to successfully load the cached copy myself to verify, but there's a screencap out there supposedly showing the text of the cached page.

(Note the bizarre claim that Cartoon Network aired G1 30 years ago -- whaaa?)

If true, this is interesting stuff; the comment about Hasbro's "commitment" to Discovery Family is particularly funny, in a pants-on-fire kind of way.

    Thoughts?

Would certainley make watching the show much easier for those of us who don't have access to Hasbro's failure of a channel. That said, I'd rather see it aired on pretty much any other channel, tbh.

Well then, I look forward to arbitrary months-long breaks in new episodes, with the back end of the series eventually being aired in some ridiculous small-hours timeslot.

I'd guess it's not a finalized deal (or decision) yet, so the article was pulled. Maybe just bad info, who knows.

Well, if it turns out true, good luck Hasbro keeping CN from getting bored and burying RiD at 6:30AM for the jillionth time. Good thing more people have DVRs nowadays.

Surprising if its true. I always assumed Hasbro and Cartoon network parted on bad terms after Transformers Animated. Given Cartoon Networks current treatment of action cartoons, it will be interesting to see how they treat Transformers this time around.

Can't wait for Cartoon Network to cancel this early for some vague generic reasons

I hope it's true. That should mean there's no chance of this show staying for too long.

IF they did , Cartoon Network is not going to be butthurt about it long term.
Because if they can make $$$$ via commercials during the broadcast of a new transformers series....Why not?

They as a corporation are in business to generate money for their shareholders.

Why do they have a new cartoon named the same as one of their old ones?

why do ass goblins chase assclowns around?

They just do....Hasbro probably got lazy and might have started the series with that name as a working title....and then just said screw it ....that is the name of the series now,

It's pure corporate laziness at it's finest.

Because Hasbro isn't particularly worried about eight-year-olds confusing it with another cartoon from fourteen years ago?

Are there many other US cartoon only channels there? I'm aware of Disney's channels, and Nickeloden, but are there many other options available to Hasbro to distribute through?

And as for "all the other people" - guess what, you are not the target audience for this cartoon.

I would hope that anyone old enough to remember the previous RID cartoon is also old enough not to be confused by two things having the same name.

This brand will be titling things as 'More than Meets the Eye' and 'Robots in Disguise' for all of eternity. I mean, go look at the TFWiki disambiguation articles for those terms. It baffles me that people are still getting hung up on it.
