I miss animated.

 

Huh. I'd have thought he'd have revised the deign, rather than just use the exact same one in his art style but hey, it's still pretty neat.

 

Then again, plenty of TFA designs are literal. People both under and over-sell it's wackiness and design flare. They either overdo the motifs or underdo the style.

 

DJW is quickly reaching Stan Bush levels.

That chin matches Sentinel Prime's, and there's no way KO is more of a d*bag than Sentinel Prime.

Otherwise, eh, it's okay. I've seen better fanartist rendetions of KO in Animated style on Deviantart, sad to say.

 

My favorite was Lazerbot's KO in our Fan Art forum. Was almost a year ago though, I think.

Part of it, for me, is the turning of yellow to orange. Knockout needs that yellow/red/white color scheme- it's what makes him so ostentatiously flashy.

 

Oh yes, I remember Lazerbot... thumbs up of approval right there.

And yet, the lack of yellow/gold is sorely missed, but alas. It's just a 'what if' drawing anyway, so it's all good. I watched Animated for the characters and the story, not so much the art direction. Even after three seasons I'm kind of 'eh' on the style, but to each his own.

 

Oh just musing here- no disrespect at all intended to the artist's vision of KO.

Even if it is just a doodle, it's fascinating to see what KO might have looked like in another universe. Agreed on TFA art- took a little getting used to, but it was unique.

 

You know, I just thought of something and I will forever hate myself if it's true, but...

Remember when Wyatt said that he was working on Animated again? What if this was it. Just a 'what if' doodle of a Prime character in Animated style, and nothing more?

I hope I'm wrong, though. That'd be Sentinel Prime levels of d-baggery.

 

Ugh, that hurts, even though you're probably right. KO branching out to different areas of the franchise beyond Aligned would be great.

anyways Knockout is a character whose design just slides in to Animated perfectly. I hope he considers doing other characters in from Prime like Predaking or Smokescreen or maybe some Rescue Bots...maybe the new AOE Autobot cast.
