I never understood how people snap like postal workers at the thought of repaints, unless they are Seekers or Datsun Bros.

The page existed, it was just called "Marlboor Wheeljack" instead as he didn't have an actual name until just now.

 

I don't think that there's an issue with repaints as much as there is, now, with non-canon repaints taking main line catalog numbers. Considering MP 10, 11, 12, 13, 14, 15, 16, 17, 18, 19, 20, 21 and 22 are all core G1 characters ripped right of the show/comics in the new rebooted bot mode scale accurate MP line, while all their niche/obscure/etc. repaint counterparts only have an additional letter designation attached to the main numbering, there's certainly going to be some expected opinions about a super obscure Diaclone repaint/remold taking up an official main slot like MP-23. That seems to be, nay, IS the issue people are having. And imo, rightly so. This IS a sudden curve ball to the going theme, no matter how you look at it.

 

That made sense for Generations, where altmodes and robot looks are updated (and I like Generations Wheeljack and Tracks   ) - but the two don't really work as remolds in Masterpiece.

I think my real worry is that takara will use this to justify shoehorning in more masterpiece diaclones as "supercar" decepticons and not give us any actual supercar decepticons like the stunticons. Or if they do give us the stunticons they'll be repaints of Autobot cars.

 

I like that they are doing him. Don't care for it being MP-23.... or that he is a newly invented character. I mean when they finally get around to doing Blue Bluestreak ... will he also be a Decepticon? Because that will freaken suck ass!

Yeah, I could see how they would decide to make the numbering system simpler... with all the sub-designations over time it would get a little complicated. But honestly to me it just waters down the line.

Hopefully the Con symbol will be a sticker. While I like the idea of the figure.... I don't like the idea of him being an official G1 Decepticon character.

diaclone marlboro wheeljack? looks alright. i'll pick it up to support more diaclone recolors. wonder why not "wheelback" though? i really wish they'd do a blue bluestreak already though.

I have negative interest in this figure. As long as it doesn't imply we'll get less US G1 toon figures, I don't care about it existing or having a number.

 

"Blue Bluestreak" is so inextricably with the Bluestreak character that there's zero chance an MP would be given its own identity, let alone a Decepticon one.

As for "Marlboor Wheeljack", his only appearance in Transformers media is as a Decepticon, so it makes sense that, when creating an identity for him, Takara chose to go down that route.

 

i do hope the con logo is a sticker, not a tampo. either that or we gonna need a 598 white backed sticker! personally i think everything else is aces...right down to the accurate to the origial diaclone marlboro wheeljack headscuplt!

we have no confirmation that the faction symbol wont be a sticker so lets try and be hopeful. I wouldnt be shocked to see every possible repaint of the cars appear at some point, its good financial business. And honestly, I want some more decepticons, even if theyre obscure homages shoehorned into a faction, its ONE figure out of dozens.

But the numbering thing... who cares, really, its a number on a box and people really need to get over it, theres no consistent system, the seekers and the datsuns were individual numbers, just accept it and move on.

Just because this isnt your taste, doesnt mean the line just instantly imploded, that is the kind of stupid comment ive seen several times in this thread and im sick of seeing it.

If you dont like it then pretend it doesnt exist and move the fuck on, because this is turning into a running battle for people trying to be excited about this amidst people justifying doom and gloom. Theres little debate, theres a lot of kneejerk whinging and very little discussion of the heritage of the character. Fine, he shouldnt REALLY be a decepticon, but honestly it doesnt bother me to the point of crying about it.

Repaints are necessary, and on behalf of those of us that like the heritage of the line and arent bothered about action master homages (which tend to not be immensely popular) I dont care about Slicer. If they do him, i doubt id buy him, but maybe I would. If not id just ignore it just like i did MP Tigertrack. You know, like an adult.

Why? Just put an Autobot sticker on it. A shit ton of people have been doing it for G2 Sideswipe and Black Optimus Prime. Hell, people were hoping the new Leader Megs came with an Autobot symbol

I think it's much ado about a number. Hopefully Takara's simplifying their numbering scheme as the current one is getting too unwieldy. One MP number for one MP toy. I doubt MP numbers affect production schedules. Did MP-10A affect MP production because he was MP-10A and not MP-54?
