We've got another new Generations toy to share a look at with you today! The next wave of Generations will shortly be arriving at US retail and one of the four new toys being released in the new assortment will be Jhiaxus!

Generations Jhiaxus is the second time that the main antagonist of the 12 issue Marvel Transformers Generation 2 series has got a toy, but this is the first one to have been molded to look like his comic incarnation - that said, he's got the colors of his previous toy release, a store exclusive in the Robots in Disguise line. Either way, it's the first time Jhiaxus has has a mass retail, non-exclusive release!

Jhiaxus is a remold of the Generations Armada Starscream, an extensive remold that sees him gain not only a new head but a completely reworked chest / upper torso, jet nosecone, wings, tailfins and weapons. A new transformation step is also added, with the nose of the jet now folding into the chest instead of just hanging in front of the robot's waist. There's plenty of details in the design too, though the bright orange colors - and it really is a garish shade - does make it hard to properly appreciate the level of detail worked in.

those guns would look great with aoe crosshairs.

That orange is really obnoxious on the eyes, but I like it all the same.

 

He's better than the re-release of Armada Starscream, but didn't this guy have a diff. design before Hasbro decided they wanted a cheap, fiction-fueled release? The "cheap" really comes through when you see him next to the other figures... oh, for the days of Springer and Sandstorm!

I think TF's always been cool for acknowledging its toy-roots, and not batting an eye when toy-demands/saleability made boundaries for the creativity. It was a challenge, and the fiction still flourished!

Toy -> Fiction = COOL.
Fiction -> Toy = MIND-BLOWN.
Toy -> Fiction -> Diff. Fiction So As To Sell -> New Toy = FAIL.

Although I may be thinking of Nova Prime...

 

A darker-ish orange and more paint apps on the head would be cool.

I still like him!

 

Had this been done in his G2/RG1/original appearance IDW color scheme it would have been an insta-buy, it's still a buy as it is, but now it'll take quite some time to repaint the whole damn figure :/

 

Once his actual-colors version gets released, I'm renaming this guy Ubinaxt.

I wonder how those guns would look with Deluxe Crosshairs.

 

Now waiting for it in the G2 cybertronian colors by TFL (Transformers: Legends) toy-line.

 

The way his face is painted makes it look like he's wearing...well, face paint.

 

Man! What is it with Hasbro not wanting to put him in his original colors? Hope Takara does him that way. Otherwise, pass.

 

Only picking this guy up for the guns. I like the orange, but I'm not a big fan of the Armada Starscream mold.

 

Those colors on this mold are the biggest letdown of Generations so far.

He looks unfinished, rough, and cheap though, which isn't a surprise these days.

 

Yeah he's orange but he's still my favorite of the wave.

A few reprolabels here and there and he'll be perfect.
