Probably because a long-range firearm (gunface) and grenades/bombs are are absolutely terrible weapons for use in close quarters combat unless you're looking to blow yourself up as well.

I don't feel that money was the issue, simply time. I remember reading that the film was still being worked on by Bay and his crew a month or so prior to the premier.

The robots shouldn't be that expensive this time around though, a lot of the focus of the movie was on finding the cheapest way out of situations - via using particle effects instead of a proper Transformation for Galvatron and Stinger.

While I understand their are other reasons the designs are also simplified - and the issue is that so much of the film is effectively wasting time that I expected at the very least for the final battle with the main villain to have some more depth to it. I think this is the second shortest fight in the series, second only to 'The Fallen' battle in ROTF.

I hope the Decepticons do win in a future film, even if its only like a 'part 1' of the final movie... but at the moment they are not a threat as much as they are a distraction.

No trolling here my friend, merely befuddlement.

The OP asks (paraphrasing) 'If Lockdown's so easy to kill, how come someone didn't kill him already'

You're simple response of 'Because lazy writing...' caused me to raise an eyebrow in no uncertain terms. You've now clarified it, and all is well with the world. :thumb

My thoughts on the matter is that there was an intention to show Lockdown getting gradually more irked with the situation of having to work with humans, and with Prime's escape, and begin to lose focus and make bad judgement calls. In itself a well worn trope, but his general irritation wasn't conveyed all that successfully. A victim of a hurried and mish mashed third act.

It's true, time has always been a pain in the arse for Bay and his team in getting the film ready for the release date. Both budget and time have been and continue to be the major factors preventing greater cinematic battles and the like.

I don't know if the the labor in creating/animating Transformers has gotten cheaper, but my theory is that faster computers or easier methods have been developed since 2007.

Being small doesn't handicap you from being able to take down a smaller opponent. Bee managed to take down Ravage quite easily. Also, I guess one could say that Skids & Mudflap handled Devastator a little well.

It's entirely possible that Lockdown doesn't usually end up in hand to hand combat with his targets while the natives fire at him with his own weapons.

Lockdown won the fight imo- he successfully pinned Prime and was about to make short work of Cade. He just didn't plan for some fleshlings to free Prime behind his back.

Too true. You have to wonder how often he's instructed to take his targets alive. Had he been allowed to kill Optimus, Optimus would've been dead the moment he was impaled. An inch to the left would've killed Optimus.

Lockdown captured all the knights once he first captured Optimus. The simple fact is that Optimus had a brief opportunity and took it.

    i completely agree.

i mean.. we saw how he captured prime initially, and how he took out ratchet.. he deployed his huge head cannon and took both of them out from a distance when they weren't expecting it, then he went and gathered prime with a net.

the entire movie was about the relationship between the autobots and the humans, i thought it was a actually pretty fitting, this time around, that they're there to help a defeated prime win the battle. it made sense.

plus.. there have been a few times in my life when i tried and failed to kill a fly or a spider.

Yea, that is a good point but seriously? Did you see how small those aliens were and how big though bullets he were shooting? Pretty sure that they'd be splattered on a wall

Lockdown specialized himself to fight one-on-one with other Transformers, not small, well-armed organics.
