So we all know that there will be a line of movie toys. But how extensive do you think they will get. With every major movie tie-in, there are usually countless variations of soem of the characters. Look at just about any major movie that had a toy line and you got at least 3 variations on the main hero and baddie. Will that and can that happen with the Transformers movie?

And do you expect the toys to be a bit dumbed down for the expected younger audience? I certainly do. But I also expect at least a very high quality figure to be made of Optimus and Megatron as a more collector oriented tie-in. But I expect everything else to be very kiddie, to almost Armada-era levels.

as long as they dont give Optimus and Megatron motorcycles like they do with every friggin movie, I'm good.

But in all honesty, I too expect pretty simple transformations, but highly detailed figures, Armada play value, Alternators detail without the interiors

I am really hoping for the higher quality Optimus & Megatron figures, but I think they will do the right thing and have varying levels for collectors and for kids. I'd love to also see a Starscream, Soundwave, Ironhide, Jazz and Prowl.

I think the decepticons will be more transtech style....especially megatron and starscream. From what we've HEARD (this is rumorville so don't go by what I say), megatron does not have an earth form, and Starscream is very sleek/scary/animalistic looking in robot form (long feet, stands on his toes so it looks like his knees bend backwards, that type of thing)

The autobots? Methinks they will be more skeletal interpretations of their old selves, with armor over their frames, but the frames being exposed.

No idea how they'll pull that off with toys.

Looking at the casting, I expect at least half of the toy line to be humans. :rolleyes2

I have a feeling that the movie will have designs that will be difficult to translate to toys, so I don't anticipate too great of a deviation from what we've seen before. Probably aesthetics similar to BM cons and RiD bots.

    I'm guessing the following:

    Basic:
2 or three different Human 5-packs (minicon sized)
    Soundwave/Soundbyte/Kennywave/Rumble/whoever
    Bumblebee
    Scorponok
Ipod guy and/or other brief throwaway characters - if they really exist
Cliffjumper (recolor) - not in movie
    Ravage - not in movie

    Deluxe:
    Bumblebee (different mold)
    Jazz
    Ironhide
    Brawl (or whoever)
    Optimus Prime
    Megatron
    Starscream
    Devastator (or whoever)
    Sideswipe - not in movie
    Tracks - not in movie
Prowl (NOT a recolor of Brawl) - not in movie
    Smokescreen - not in movie

    Mega:
    Ratchet
    Vortex/Incinerator/Soundwave/etc.
    Bonecrusher (or whoever)
    Military playset
    Downtown playset
    Autobot headquarters

    Ultra:
Prime (same toy as Super price without trailer)
    Starscream
    Devastator (or whoever)

    Super:
    Prime (with trailer)
Megatron (with...something - base, super weapon, etc)

    Supreme:
Sky Lynx - not in movie (though there's been reference to some shuttle)

I was JUST about to say I'm hoping we don't get those lame, half assed toys that were put out for King Kong, Superman, Spiderman, etc... The list goes on... Movie toys for me have been NOTORIOUSLY BAD...:lol

I was thinking about this the other day. I was wondering how far will things go. For an example I will use just any Disney Movie, once it's getting close to the time the movie comes out there are character toothbrushes, sneakers and shoelaces with the characters on it, pez dispensers, lip gloss with the characters on it! Practically anything you can think of. So I am wondering how far Transformers merchandise will go (in the U.S. anyway)

I just hope whatever designs they use for the movie translate well into toy form.

I anticipate that we'll not only see an influx of "toys" that most of collectors won't want to touch with a ten foot pole. Ie: remote control stuff, various recolors and repackagings of the same hero and villain figures with either a new excessory or new figure with it in a two pack. However, we'll probably also see some higher end collectible stuff come our way too.

Also, I would expect some clothing merchandise. Definently in t-shirts and underware for the kids. Possibly some baseball caps too. Adults will probably get some t-shirts, maybe some boxers with the autobot or decepticon symbol on them like the batsignal boxers that came out around Batman Begins.

I'd also expect toys that aren't your typical TF toy... like a TF powerwheels, or tricycle or something like that. And definently a TF picture-thingy with those rotating stills in the bionocular type thingy... forget what those are called though.

In other words... Hasbro is going to try to make as much freakin' money off of this thing as they possibly can! :lol

I am expecting kickass toys who are put into some semblance of scale, atleast for the ground vehicles. i doubt believe hasbro cares about the latter and as such I guess ill settle for the former.

I am not expecting too much from the toys except that they will still be on shelves long after the movie is on DVD like all movie toys seem to do. I recently just saw Hulk movie toys still on shelves. Granted it was a KB but still.

THERE WILL BE NO MASS SHIFTING!!!!!

He he, actually, I fear the same thing; Mega Bumblebee and Kennywave, and deluxe Starscream and Devastator.

Giant foam Transformer hands that make noise when you hit stuff with them!!!

And I'm also eagerly awaiting "Potatomus Prime"... which, the more I think about it, the more I realize it could actually work... faceplate instead of lips, antenna thingies for ears, a helmet, and eyes...

Looking at Mr. Potato Darth, there is in fact a precedent for potato head Prime. And there could be wheels, cab etc for truck mode. IT. COULD. WORK! :lol

I wouldn't think there'd be THAT many dumbed down toys considering the movie is shooting for a PG-13 rating, that's not exactly the cartoon's market.

Honestly I'm finding myself caring less and less about collecting the movie toys. They'll have to be pretty damned amazing for me to buy them.

I forsee each figure coming in 3 different sizes. Kinda how you see F4 toys in 6 and 12 inch sizes. More than likely, the larger the toy, the more detail it will have.

    Anybody remember the Rambo toyline?
I reckon the merchandising will be done to death on this thing, with transformers names and logos plastered on everything, from lunchboxes, to child-size Optimus prime blasters and lego-style versions of the...oh wait, we have all that crap already don't we?

I reckon that its pretty certain that there will be a lot of stuff on sale associated with this movie. If we are lucky there might be one or two gems hidden among the piles of crap we usually get.
