I'm hoping for multiple sized realistic alt mode figures but I'm not holding my breath.

I might be wrong on this, but as far as I know all the lisenced BT/Alts so far have come either from Ford, Subaru or from the GM group. While this still leaves a lot of cars to choose from, many of them are going to be very unremarkable (I personally might buy a transformer version of a Ford Focus, but a Focus, Fiesta, Mondeo? Don't think so). Also, while Hasbro might be cutting costs, most of the design expenses for these lines were coming from TakaraTomy, and they are supposedly taking a break form new BTs for a while. I doesn't look good for the line I think. I agree with you that Mirage is a great toy, but he is an exception to a trend with regards to the quality standards of alternators. That said, I may eat my words when I see Rumble (who is a Honda, so you can forget most of what I just said)

I would'nt have said that RID was pandering to older collectors as it was a main toy line, as opposed to the Alternators and Masterpieces which more directly target this market.
But yeah, I see where you are coming from, but the question is this; are these fans going to be paying €35-€40 for versions of characters that bear a slight resemblance to the originals (and increasingly obscure characters at that); or less for toys that are closer to the originals? They may buy both, but if I have to make the choice, I would go with the Classics. Only time will tell if there are more people like me I suppose.

Is Starscream a scaled version of an actual plane? If he was, and Hasbro were going down this line with Alts, then it would be a different story altogether. There are only so many car Transformers you can put out in a line before it gets a bit stale. Non-car alternators would definitely give it a much-need shot in the arm

That's most of them - there's also Daimler Chrysler (Dodge )

The dedicated fans will buy both. The casual ones will pick and choose.....

To be honest I'm more excited about getting a movie game that's really damn good, with playable characters, long hours of gameplay and replayability, and excellent graphics than I am about getting toys.

Transformers are inherently hard to pull off as toys. I WANT good movie toys, but the Alternators line is keeping me more than happy on the toy front.

I really really really want a good videogame. A good LONG videogame.

i just realized since theyre in production now, and the movies a year away. so that means the toy designs are out already and floating somewhere out there to be found by leakers.

And for crying out loud CAN WE GET IT ON MORE THAN ONE SYSTEM PLEASE!!!!:banghead:  :banghead:  :banghead:

    F@#%$@% Sony!

And to :horse:  this damn GM story for tha last time. I think that Saleen Mustang Decepticon has pretty much confirmed that GM will NOT be the exclusive auto provider for this movie. Sadly it seems Japan Inc. doesn't seem to want to put much effort into Transfomers at all even though many G1 TF's WERE from Japan. (Let's see Mazda and,,,,,well they're part of Ford, Subaru and,,,, Nope that's it. Oh yeah, Acura!)

Frankly just to piss off the Pistol vs. Tank vs. T-Rex crowd, I'd like to see an Alt. / BT Megatron as,,,,,, A Maybach.

Why? :stick:  'Cause he's pimp like that! :D  You can't be supreme dictator of the universe without a phat stretch now can you?
