Was Lockdown also a knight? ... A knight gone rouge?

I ask because he also wields a sword that looks similar to the one Optimus has.
I have to assume not just any Transformer can pull them out of the ship... therefore where and how did Lockdown get his sword?

This would also explain how he could take over the ship.

 

The swords probably belong to cybertronians that lockdown killed or vanquished in battle....

Kinda like with Fett in star wars...he kept the lightsabers of Jedi he killed or captured and turned over to the empire..

It's probably nothing more than Trophy hunting....keeping a trophy to remind you of the hunt...

 

Yeah man very true, sadly it could be nothing more than something Lockdown kept from his kill. The concept art sort of makes me wish the other Primes are kept captive and enslaved by the Creator's, and only waiting to be freed by Optimus in a later script.

 

No I don't think so. We KNOW that ship previously belonged to the Knights! And this statues and a whole entourage shows that it was like space base for secret conventions.

 

Oh, the prequel comic Tales of The Fallen did mentioned one of the primes featured Optimus Prime's face, and tfwiki claimed that he is the Prima and also the bio-father (or spiritual father？) of Optimus.

 

I think, i have a theory on that (Knigth theme links to the Dynasty of Primes) , and i really want to share it with Don Murphy or any one else who has final say on the movie making (screenplay and the design of robots).

 

I'd say that the Silver Knight powerup is the result of the Dinobots granting their powers to Optimus's sword or something. Or perhaps, it's tied to the sword itself.

 

That it is, once upon the time, these knights served Dynasty as the original prime’ s maid, assistant, commanding officer of the Imperial army, take a lead in the battle or play major role in the exploration of resources (pure energy drained from a suitable sun via the Harvester).

 

I said this before my theory is that the Knights (of Cybertron) were the Autobot equivalent of the Decepticon (Star) Seekers. As seen with Slug sporting an Autobot symbol. Like Jetfire the Dinobots are old and legendary.

I also theorize the Knights saved Optimus from the Fallen's purge and was raised as one of them. Like the 7 Primes and Seekers the Knights were space explorers. Sentinel Prime himself according to Sam led an expedition.

 

Those kind of reminds me of Bionicle.

 

The whole concept of the Dinobots and the Dynasty of Primes may be linked with the old knights from literature. The Dinobots(Knights) long ago served the Dynasty of Primes(Kings). Optimus, being the YOUNGEST of them was chosen to lead the Knights gaining the title of Grand Master

Ranks varied from order to order but generally would be something like this:
Optimus Prime (Grand Master )
Grimlock (Knight Commander)
Scorn (Knight Sergeant)
Slug (Knight Bannerette)
Strafe (Knight Errant/Bachelor)
Slash (Squires/Footmen)

 

Well yeah -- I mean, the similarities to Excalibur are too great to ignore.
