Ok...so I saw AOE for the third time last night...and it's official....the thing that really makes me scratch my head and go WTF Michael Bay is:

...the scene where Lucky Charms pulls up in his rally car; but you don't see anyone behind the wheel!

I get it, we're supposed to think it's a Transformer...but the idea is terrible. First off, how on Earth was he driving the car, and making that precise turn? Where could a human possibly hide where you wouldn't see him/her AT ALL, and still be able to drive?

Just a bad choice Bay.

But I do love the movie.

Yep, pretty much this. All indications are that 'Rollbar' was going to be a fully fledged robot and it was dropped after a handful of scenes were shot with the car.

They could've CGI'ed his silly face in the car then.

Perhaps the stunt was too dangerous for a human driver so they used an automated car

Remember Skids and Mudflap wasn't entirely taken out of DOTM. We could see the Chevy Sparks.

It's funny, because someone, in real life, had to be in the car to drive it. So we can't see them for the same reaosn we can't see Lucky Charms.

 

It's just a red herring. You're meant to think 'which TF is that?'

And then you find out it isn't one.

Not really sure why, though I suspect there wouldn't be quite the same amount of suspense if we saw a guy in a car pulling up...

It's kind of a reverse DOTM Soundwave.

I very much doubt it's anything to do with it having been intended to be a TF at some point. They certainly would;t have changed it mid-war through filming. Nothing else that happens really indicates at any point that it would transform and do anything. Plus there would be proper concept designs for them to base a figure on instead of just repainting Generations Skids (I'm not sure even that 1-step is based on anything official).

Its simply a trick to hide the driver until the big reveal. That's all. Why do people have such a hard time grasping that not every prominent vehicle in these movies has to be a Transformer?

 

We'll maybe because there was a poll were all the cars were classified as transformers .

Let's not forget it was getting a toy, and it had the cover name "Rally", and I think Tonyformer said there was an article were GM confirmed it was going to be a transformer, but it was cut.

That's probably why so many of us thought it was a transformer.

 

So when you found out it wasn't a Transformer they could piss all over your fanboy imagination

This was a really huge mistake. Rollbar could have been a somebody.

 

Well, I hope you learned a important lesson about not believing something with out credible evidence. The poll was obviously a mistake, since it still has the rally car listed on it despite the movie being out and clearly wrong. The toy is not a guarantee either since there was Longarm figure made. Tonyformer can claim anything he wants but if there is no source for it, I have no reason to believe GM had any such knowledge.

 

I went looking for a photo of that one-step changer Rollbar because I hadn't looked at it before. When I saw it I thought "I've seen that design before..."

There is no sonic character from ILM. Hasbro just used the sonic to sell a repaint as a new figure instead of coming up with a new design. Greed TFW!
