I was a little bummed about the Dinobots though. They were reduced to bad@$$ steeds and that's it.

I think most people wanted Welker to voice Megatron with the original G1 voice. I agree that it would not have fit movie Megs. However, Welker altered his G1 Megatron voice for the TF: Prime series and, IMO, fits the new Galvatron well, and probably would have suited movie Megatron.

 

That would be a good quick way to kill off the Dinobots. Although they'd last longer than Zilla did in Final Wars at least . . .

 

I guess they heard his work in Transformers Prime. Nothing cartoony about that Megatron's voice!

The lack of actual characterization was part of what I felt was ridiculous. They just kind of showed up, very close to the end of the movie and there was not really much of an introduction for them.

I felt the same way, Grimlock has been promotionalized through this entire movie. It was all dinobots this and Grimlock that, and they will be awesome. after a 3 hr movie, I just wanted to see them a little longer.

The dinobots showed up well before the 3rd act, all though brief Grimlock can be seen when Prime is being imprisoned and that same scene tells us most of what we need to know about their personalties.

I'd like to see them talk eventually as well, but I'm really glad they didn't this time. Watching the G1 cartoons I was hoping they couldn't just fly in robot mode, but the Knight thing actually gives them a reason for it so maybe its okay

 

I was also dissapointed the Dinobots weren't featured as much as they should've been

 

It's a let down Grimlock didn't speak instead of groan like an unintelligent creature.

Grimlock doesn't talk to non-prehistoric people. Only dinosaurs (and pterosaurs) are worthy of Grimlock's heavenly voice.

To be fair that was because Wheeljack went overboard in that whole 'smart-as-a-dinosaur' track he was running on, and something he corrected when he found out that making gigantic fire-breathing nigh-invincible dinosaur robots with all the brains of said dinosaurs was a bad idea.

I finally got time today to go see the movie and coming in i for one was expecting the Dinobots to appear in the final act. And i felt their introduction was awesome, From Optimus pretty much demanding Grimlock to help the autobots but also you could tell as he was talking that he was a lil nervous knowing he was gone prob have to fight Grimlock.

To the Dialogue between Drift and Crosshairs the whole time that was hilarious. And i liked how they marched into Battle wrecking Havoc i felt it all was a tease and we gone get more from them next movie

 

In this continuity, the Dinobots are the Knights of Cybertron. AOE only scratched the surface of their potential involvement going forward.

 

i agree.. i thought the dinobots were perfect for this movie.. i loved how prime freed them and fought grimlock.. they looked spectacular.. i don't really need them to talk.. i'd much rather them not talk than them have stupid G1 type personalities. don't get me wrong i loved their personalities in G1, but it just wouldn't work for this type of movie.

and yes, crosshairs and drift were fantastic during that whole scene.

if they're smart, the next movies plot will involve both the creators and the dinobots.

 

I'd like to see scorn and slug have more screen time in the next flim maybe 1 or 2 more dinbots...
