Nope, we HAVE to blame the animators!!! They should have put a giant explosion coming out of his feet as he screamed, "Activate brand new FOOT BOOSTERS!!! LAUNCH!!!"

I think I pretty much echo everyone else, the fact Prime suddenly has the ability to fly and into space bugged me as well especially since he had help flying in the last two movies and even needed the shuttle to fly to the moon now he's flying off into space like the end of the first Reeves Superman movie. It felt like they needed an ending of some sort and the writers just threw something together at the drop of the hat.

 

Just lol. I don't care if he never used those thrusters till the end. I still liked how he surprised people by flying into space
