I'll get straight to the point:
The Autobots save Earth 3 times, and are MURDERED by the humans they fought to protect, and people are mad at Optimus Primes character on Tf4? I mean, Optimus WAS ambushed by them (& Lockdown), and DID see footage of them Killing Leadfoot and Ratchet (and probably saw the rest of the cast die too). In my opinion, his actions are understandable. Dont get me wrong, we ALL know and love G1 Optimus, but I think it was clear since the first movie that THIS is a different version of him, and 4 movies on ya' are still complaining?

One Last thing, can you imagine seeing footage of your close friends face being melted down and being used for materials? Honestly, I am Ok with him killing BAD humans in AOE.

(Didnt mean to offend anyone, its just my opinion after seeing VARIOUS posts about him killing humans)

Yeah, I think Optimus is too far removed from the classic character in the original trilogy, but I had no issues with him here. Other than the unnecessary murder threats. He vows to leave... Because it's not safe for his Autobots to stay, and if they leave, Lockdown will follow with the "Seed". It just works out best for everyone that way.

Humans could have dealt with Galvatron.

And at the end, he goes off to punch god, but he clearly has Earth and his men's best interests in mind when he does it. That's why he leaves them to take on Galvatron and he goes after the larger threat. Remember, Cemetery Wind was doing their stuff illegally. They're not gonna reform without Attinger.

Also, I don't remember the humans going on a Transformers killing spree in G1, so G1 Optimus wasn't really tested as much as this one.

Also, the only humans he actually fired upon were the ones that were there to kill him and (presumably) were going to kill the people who were protecting him. Thank Primus he did something.
He also could have killed Joshua, but instead he just gave him a piece of his mind and left.

Thats what I am saying, his actions are justified, he did what he did to avoid Human and Autobot Extinction

He even EXPLAINS ALL THIS in the movie. "Look, I know I said we don't harm humans, but this is really too much. Someone's gotta pay for this."

I didn't like that. "He's going to die." just felt... Wrong to me. Like there was nothing Attinger could do, Prime was determined to kill him.

I am a big Movie Op defender.
At one point, even I was starting to say "That's just un-Optimus".

But, I think that was the point. He had been pushed. He is sentient; not an emotionless soulless computer. Yes, he said he wanted to kill the human responsible.

    But he didn't.

As far as I am concerned, every human he killed was not to save his own hyde, but to save Cade or his family.
And THAT's pretty f'n heroic, esp. under the current circumstances.

    Perfectly justifiable.

I hate to say this, but exactly. He only kills Attinger because he's going to kill Cade. It's not like he murdered him in the street when he was unarmed or anything.

Kind of funny, I thought that Optimus was closer to his old self in this film as opposed to Revenge of the Fallen or Dark of the Moon where he was merciless towards his Decepticon foes.

He also didn't kill anyone while he was in KSI. He said he was going to kill Attinger, but he only left after Joshua confronted him.

Yep. No one at the farm either, he just blew them off their feet. I mean, in real life they'd be dead, but I assume they survived here.

Optimus had every right to be pissed in this movie. Allies turned to enemies and friends desicrated. Hell if I was OP I'd snap and say "FUCK YOU HUMANITY!!!" as well. He did try to keep a cool head however which I did like. It shows how we as humans also try to remain calm but can't always do it. The strongest of us fall to our inner anger at some point. In AOE the humans did just that. I like this movie because they pushed Prime to a more darker side of himself. I felt sad for everything the autobots went through.

This is the only time I didn't mind Optimus doing something unoptimus like actually (I don't mean killing, it's how he does it, just because your saving the day it isn't ok to scream GIVE ME YOUR FACE especially when you get pissed once the humans start taking cyber faces).

Hate to say it, but I agree with bellpeppers. (*shivers* oh I feel dirty.) Prime's waking up shouting "I'll Kill you!" was because he thought he was still under attack. And he immediatly followed it with "stay back!" meaning that threat was probably empty.

Yeah, Prime mulls killing the man who's responsible for grotesqley murdering his friends, but who wouldn't?

And prime pulling his forces off earth, well, he did vow to stop the immediate threat first. And could you blame him for pulling out? The humans had made it brutally clear they were unwanted. And even then, he still had second thoughts on their way to China, and I'd argue he did so before cade talked to him.

And when he does finally kill Kelsey Grammer, it wasn't a revenge killing, but Grammer was a clear lethal threat to Cade. Deadly force was authorized.

This is actually the first sequel where I didn't have an issue with Prime's behavior because it was thoroughly contextualized.

Even Optimus cracks sometimes. Cant relate too him if he cant feel anything.

Only time I remember G1 Prime going into murder mode was in the 86 movie, and that was rad. Am glad to finally see him do crazy stuff nstead of just seeing his potential.
LOVE G1, but the animation was lacking. They all posed 90% of the time.

It was also fun in Beast Wars when Primal stormed the Pred base and wooped everyone.

Really hoped Megatron had a scene where he kicks all the Aotobots asses. He hasnt been pulling his weight lately.

Would spaz out if Prime met his master in TF 5, and we find out Prime is also still young and being told to calm down a little.
