It is kind of weird in a way. The movie isn't really a reboot, they just don't talk about the old stuff to much. But they reference it enough with Ratchet, Chicago and Megatron. Nothing you didn't know from the TV spots.

The movie almost felt like a side step or a break from the first 3 movies, mainly due to the threat being from fellow humans.

Cade and his family, daughter included I could take or leave. I could see Cade returning easily. Cade was an upgrade from Sam and his parents.

But the Human element from the villains was the biggest difference, Stanley Tucci and Kesley Gramer (plays bad very well).

Like I said it felt like a side step for me and I look forward to the next movie, hopefully with more traditional villains and threats.

Just got back from watching AOE! I haven't gone through this thread, but I have to say that this was much better than the last two movies in the previous trilogy!! If I had to rate it out of 10, I would personally give it an 8. Without spoiling anything, the first half hour was the best because there was so much emotion in both the human and Autobot elements. I have seen the reviews for Rotten Tomatoes which is 50% at the moment and over at imdb it is 7.9/10. I don't know about other people, but the dancing scene with Tessa and Bee was not in it and no scene after the credits. (I watched it at Melbourne IMAX by the way). As a massive fan of Steve Jablonsky's score, I have to say there were some parts from the first movie (When the Autobots are coming to earth), however overall, the score was pretty bad ass. The plot of the movie was well though out in my opinion, probably because they had a smaller main cast. But like I said, this new 'trilogy' has a future. It is definitely worth the money!

:)  So are there any credit scenes? I also heard one of the people there were talking about the blu-ray DVD version is going to have the cut scenes. Just wanted to share that.

I'm seeing it in two hours, everyone in this thread is doing a great job at building the hype :D

Is there no dance scene in the Australian release version though? I was actually looking forward to seeing that play out.

It premired on Korea on June 25th. The critics are roaring furiously, but I think it is way better than expected. I enjoyed it.
Everyone got enough spotlight. Humans, the five main Autobots, and even
    Brains
    plays a major role in
    resurrecting Megatron as Galvatron
The story concluded well, while leaving some future plots for sequel. Galvatron
retreats when his grand plan fails.
    Oh, and Optimus
    flies to space
    at the end. Yes, seriously.

Happy day! Hah what's up guys? So glad you all saw it early than half of us. I'm seeing it Thursday. Can any of you tell me what was the best part? (Beginning, middle, end, highway chase, Hong Kong battle, etc.) :)

The dinobots are so impressive I nearly cried with awesomeness when they rode into battle.

Also they r impressively close to the toys now I'm buying all 4 ( I have scorn and grimlock only now)

Shockwave 2 was cool, wish they just treat him a such in tf5!

Also the end battle was refreshingly almost all bot to bot with no military involvement at all

Thre are soooooo many action scenes it's hard to say the best. The lockdown ship infiltration alone is a 20 min sequence entirely made with cgi.

That side, the best parts for me were probably the autobot gather up scene at the crayon (it felt like a more epic version of Arrival to Earth), the dinobot battle scenes and galvatron chasing the autobot on the freeway (a repeat of dotm freeway chase but more awesome...with a similar slow mo shot of bots transforming in mid air to save humans)

But my fave by far is the Autobot siege on KSI headquarters, with prime going ballistic on the human labs. It's as awesome as it sounds

    Hey, another Aussie here.

I'm not a typical Transformers fans, just a movie fan who happens to enjoy TF movies.

I've seen it today and I enjoyed it way more than I thought I would based on the runtime. To be honest of it'd been shorter and the editing had been tighter I'd have said it's the best TF movie to date. It certainly beats the first TF in term of spectacles and Transformers' characterizations. There're so many epic scenes that are worthy of rep[eat viewing. I hope it's the first part of the trilogy because it opens up so much potential.

I've read a few negative reviews and I think they're too harsh. It's a very entertaining and for once these transforming robots get the focus they deserve.

    I give it an 8.
