That would be easiest way to explain their existence away.

I'm sure they'll get some mention. Even Mikaela's disappearance got a mention (even if it was in the form of a slight jab)

Most likely their fates will be explained in a throwaway line. Or if Optimus monologues about it in the opening.

    Agree 100%

Who the heck really cares? I hope they don't even bring that up in the script.

The fans were always talking about there's too much human element in the last one and that the human characters were annoying so why would you care now?

Simple answer: Cuz they need show that AOE really isn't a reboot. They have to show that there are some connections with the previous trilogy! The story continues from where DOTM ended. They have to explain in and also Michael Bay said there's an explanation, so!

They are fine whereever they are. The govt knows the Autobots were the good guys and saved the day. What probably happens is the civilian population hates ALL transformers because of Chicago & politicians will do what the voters want, get rid of all robots.

No way will they not mention what happend to Sam at some point since he was the main human star of 1-3.

I like the setting at least. Not sure if we need all of them to die. You don't need death to have drama.

The fact there was no mention at all of what happened to any of the human characters from the previous 3 films was one of the biggest gripes I had with AOE personally.

My own nephews as well were unhappy there no reference to their fates when we saw the film together in the cinema.

I care. My sister cares because the human characters helped her to get into Transformers universe and appreciate it. If that was the goal of making the fans have to listen to Sam whine about his love life and trouble getting a normal civilian job, to make the franchise relatable to non-fans, then mission accomplished.

But anyway, My guess, until someone in the movies says otherwise, is that many of them are dead. I just can't see Sam, Lennox, Epps or even Simmons stepping aside and doing nothing as the Autobots were being hunted down. Especially not after all they went through together in DOTM. No, they would have made trouble for KSI and Cemetery Wind, and we saw with Cade how they dealt with those who got in their way.

They were likely murdered, and their deaths blamed on the Transformers. A few who were less involved and less emotionally invested in the Autobot cause -- Carly, Dutch and perhaps Sam's parents and Lennox's wife and daughter come to mind -- may have been threatened or paid off to keep silent about what had happened. But the Autobots would have known, and I think it would have really pushed Optimus Prime over the edge.

Why was Optimus so angry at humanity in general during AOE? Because most if not all of the humans he'd most cared for and trusted and been murdered just for being their friends. I could be wrong. I hope I am. But that's my guess.

I only want Sam to come back to make his obnoxious screams, then get knocked out by Cade.

I'd bet some were killed and the rest were imprisoned in a blacksite. After all those deaths. Someone would start to ask questions.

Do not care about humans, cause these movies should be about giant robots.

    THEY'RE ALL FINE.

They didn't do anything that wasn't (eventually) sanctioned and keeping them safe was the entire point of them not being in Transformers: Age of Extinction, ffs.

    :p

Treason....providing aid or support to an organization deemed against your government.

    really simple there.

Once they declared the autobots or transformers or any group as being against your government they can charge anyone giving assistance or aid to them with treason.

It doesn't really matter what their charges would be they were in/knew of a super secret organization that the government didn't acknowledge as existing, pretty sure they wouldn't get a formal trial if they wanted to lock them up.

It's sad when Optimus loses faith in humanity and the government would do things like that
