So all of them but Grimlock have blank, visored faces. Seem kinda suckish to anyone else? I mean maybe one would do but all of them?
I still have hope, they might be different in the movie. Doesn't matter though. We'll never see their faces that close in the movie anyway.
Actually I think they all look awesome apart from Slash, who's head really reminds me of someone from the UT (Wreckloose perhaps?) so hopefully the design will translate better in CG than in toy form. Scorn and Slug both look like medieval knights, and Strafe just looks awesome. Grimlock is certainly a different take, but I think it works still. I'm overall very impressed by the designs this time around, much more so than the previous three films, so no I don't think they are by any means 'suckish' as you put it.
Id actually like to see more pure visor like faces. They all had them in G1. But lets not forget, how many TFs have we seen in the movies with visors that go up and down? Jazz had one, bee has his battle mask, and even Roadbuster had a visor. And now lockdown has a full space-like visor that goes up and down.
We haven't even seen CGI for the Dinobots. All we have is artwork and sketchy designs for promotional use! Wait till we get CGI and then we can talk.
- Scorn is amazing looking with his tail weapon thing and he has a cool head. - Strafe is just a bad ass, and I really like his design with his heads over his shoulders. - Slash is kinda boring IMO and I don't like his design especially his weapons. His head on the other hand is cool looking. - Slug looks pretty cool in dino mode. His robot mode is cool, but his head ruins it for me. - Grimlock looks cool with his teeth as some sort of necklace (reminds me of a predator). His head is okay, but I do miss his RED visor. His weapon on the other hand really fits him.
Yah, Slug's face is really the only one that bothers me, but I feel they all kind of have that medieval knight vibe, which is awesome that they are kind of consistent. I guess the wreckers in DOTM were all fairly consistent in the fact that they all had the "glasses" visors on their faces.
Yeah, lets wait until the CGI reders are out for the Dino bots. As awesome as Strafe looks as a toy, he looks even more amazing in the teaser. So, I'm guessing they will all look sweet on screen/in CGI.
I like the fact they're all pretty uniform with the knight's hemet and the pointed boots. Slah does look a bit off in bot mode with the tufts sticking out of his knees like that, but I wouldn't be surprised if he'd slightly mistransformed.
I love how a style of design that's deep-rooted in robot fiction is apparently only lazy when the movies do it.
It's intentional. They're all classic European plate helm designs. For example, for Slug, look up "Stechhelm".
I have to agree they look rather bland on the toys - but who knows just how many details have been omitted just to get it to work on a deluxe toy scale. Vizors, helmets or not - I'm sure they will look great on screen.
I like these. At least it's not a human face. A robot having no facial features, and just a visor, seems believable for me. Cause ultimately they do not need a nose, and perhaps neither a mouth if it can emote with sound in another manner.
This is my first really good look at Slug. LOVE the design. Can't wait to see what he looks like on screen or as a CGI.
