I know there's already a TF vs PR thread but this would be a different discussion altogether.

IMO, the sizes of those jaegers which are skyscraper like and way too big to compare even with the decepticon driller and devastator, seems like a fit if they will include metroplex in the films.

The size seems big enough for Prime to fit in the hands ala his appearance in FOC game

They have wasted enough CGI for a driller which hardly anyone cared about. Why not make one who is beloved by fans and is now very feasible with the advent of Pacific Rim.

I don't think it did well enough in the states for it to be considered a reason to include 'Plex.

How....big would Metroplex be in real life? I mean...A CITY bot.

Would they have to downgrade him to a building bot?

Possibly a suburb bot? Neighberhood bot?

I'm not seeing what Pacific Rim has to do with Metroplex at all? If they wanted him in it they would do it, and with better CGI. Pacific Rim is not setting any standards, and it is absolutely absurd to think that.

In truth they could handle massive Transformers with no question exactly like the prior media - however they choose not to. A prime example of this is Devastator from ROTF - they could have easily had him standing up and being menacing but they changed it. The concept art even shows they planned to have him standing originally.

The Driller is proof the scale of CGI is not the issue and never was - its a massive damn drill interacting with virtually everything.

They have no excuses other than whether they could explain it in the plot and lets be honest the plots are nonsensical 99% of the time - so they have no reason not to include large Transformers such as more combiners, Omega Supreme, Metroplex and Unicron...

Actually Pacific Rim proved that better camera works makes the film more enjoyable for the viewer so they can tell what is happening.

Having Metro in a Bayverse is a waist. He's too big. Plus we'd only get 2 min of sreenplay. Idk why no one tries to vouch for Stratosphere.

Actually you can tell what's going on in Transformers and it doesn't rely on rain and water effects to hide other details.

You know, for some reason I couldn't understand before, PR sometimes reminded me of the first Silent Hill game. I could not, for the life of me, place my finger on what it was, but now I know. The rain/storms made me think of fighting stuff in the fog.

And thats exactly why Silent Hill always had foggy/rainy/dark environments. To hide the environment so the game could load faster. :bay

Jesus, what in fucking hell would they bring Metroplex out to fight?

The big boys in the Bay films don't get much screentime thanks to the sheer cost and pain put into making them, which I understand, even if it is disappointing. I would've loved to have seen other scenes, like maybe more of the Wreckers fighting Shockwave or Optimus getting his trailer, showing the Bots going down and getting captured, or more teamwork Vs Sentinel, other than the Driller, which was there to destroy a building for the wow effect and for Optimus to look cool as he kills it to the tune of the 30 second Autobot theme. Don't even get me started on Devastator, who I wish could've done more.

It'd be cool to have Metroplex but Pacific Rim didn't set any standards, as said, for giant robots, regardless of how cool it was.

even if they made metroplex a bayformer, you probably arent going to see much of him, remember devastator? yeah, he appeared then got shot down by puny human instantly... instead of.. you know fighting the autobots?

plus bay love to focus on puny little human running around trying to be a hero instead of giant robot... so metroplex is just going to be yet another moving background with sam running around...

They could bring Metroplex out. If they can do Godzilla with the size and scale of that beast. Then Metroplex can be done. The more pressing question would be dose the movie need Metroplex as in previous incarnations the character was not a pretty strong one to include. He isn’t Unicron or Primus so it wouldn’t be essential for the inclusion for him in the movie. The film could go down the route of him been used as a base of command for the Autobot’s which could see him fight another larger robot if the base came under attack. I honestly don’t see and appeal for him in the franchise at the moment because I don’t think him been a giant skyscraper would do Metroplex justice and would remind me of a bit in the film Big, where the executives have a giant Empire state building as a toy in a meeting and Tom Hanks character plays with it and it just falls apart and is rubbish.

Things is, Metroplex was meant to be a the size of something the Autobots themselves could live in, which is pretty bloody massive. Kind of a cool idea for a toy, but in real terms... well first of all, how weird is it that a living entity's main function's to be its friends' home? And then of course just imagine if just one of our homes became humanoid. It'd only have to tread on us and we'd be dead, so something big enough to to house Transformers would easily just trample the Decepticons to death, probably by accident most of the time. It's pretty ridiculous when you take a step back and look at it, even within the fantasy realm of transforming robots.

I know - but the Transformers battles look like shit compared to the level of detail and realism presented on the robots in Pacific Rim. I still have barely any clue what is happening in almost any of the fights in TF2007 or TFROTF. DOTM was a slight improvement but we never really had battles in that - we just had Optimus slicing things into pieces which was dull.

As for the 'rain and water effects' they didn't hide detail as much as make it 1000 times more difficult for the animators who needed to add details such as the way the rain touches the CGI monsters and robots - something that the Transformers series simply cannot do because they have an inferior CGI team.

The CGI team for Transformers had to invent a way called ray-tracing where the light accurately reflects off of the Transformers bodies when in robot mode. Rain drops hitting simply designed robots o CGI models is easy and has been going on for a while. ILM is far more advanced and experienced as a CGI team than any of their peers. (Maybe except weta).

    I really liked the driller.
Actually the only think I liked in the movie was the driller
