Well, if you've got an alien weapon to use, why waste the time and effort to make one of your own?

Which i would have been ok with lol. I do wish we had just stayed with Sam and company.. just recast Shia.. he was great in the 2007 movie.. tolerable in ROTF... i wanted Megatron to kill him in DOTM.

I see it as we're only 6 years in. People still hate Rodimus for getting Optimus killed.

I'll agree on Cade's character, the editing, the script and transformium.

The scripts and editing of every transformers film has been relatively equal.

The human cast, who ever it is, I never cared about. It's the Transformers that convinces me to always buy a ticket.

My enjoyment of the film was everytime Lockdown was on-screen or Grimlock..those scenes were worth watching.

The ideas pitched for the new script most definitely needed polishing.

Now the CG I'll disagree there, I felt it was much better than the previous films. The 3D could've been better.

Yeah Cade's whole inventor aspect wasn't even used to its full potential. Him being just a mechanic would have been better.

I don't know what the movies are and I don't know if I'm with it or not. I like one, dislike two, hate three and go back to liking with four.

BAM, this guy nailed it 100% on the head.
I think most of the people who don't like the movies like Transformers enough that they desperately want to see it done right and hope the new promises each time will be true, although they really know better.
I like them, but I do think a fresh approach would be nice.

^yup. at this point they could write the best movie ever as a sequel to AOE and no matter how good of a movie it is it'd still be a shitty transformers movie just by association. only way to salvage this crap is a reboot that pays respect to the brand

Are you saying people like me, who love the movies as they are now, aren't Transformers fans enough and that's why we like what some call "pieces of garbage"?

I would honestly be fine with a new direction, new director, but do NOT reboot the franchise or this continuity. Keep this continuity around for a while. The cartoons and comics go their own ways, as do the movies.

I've not seen AoE yet. When the first bits of story leaked and then the trailers came along I was filled with hope because it sounded like an interesting story. I've read a lot from both 'sides' since then and mostly I'll eventually see the movie because I'm intrigued where it has apparently fallen down or risen up (depending on which side of the fence you may stand). I know what I'm probably going to be getting. But I'd rather know for myself firsthand than just from the words of others, perhaps with their own agenda.

I'm not much of a BayFormers fan, but I'll always see them just because I like movies with lots of effects and CGI regardless of what they may be of. I may come away from it disappointed, or I may come away feeling some measure of enjoyment from it. I actually like a lot of parts of DotM, even though I felt overall it was a poor movie. If I can come away from AoE with even just that then it will have been worth a watch.

I'll value the experience of seeing the movie, even if perhaps I don't end up valuing the movie itself. No doubt I'll even be back for five and six, regardless of how AoE turns out for me. I like to know what people are talking about, especially something that divides and polarizes the TF fandom so much.
It's carrying the Transformers name after all, and I've been in this for the long haul, so I may as well watch it just so I can give my valid personal opinion on it. I can't just ignore it or not see it since the franchise hefts a huge chunk of its entire weight in that direction every couple of years or so. It's the elephant in the room. With explosions.

Even if some people may disagree with my personal opinion, and needlessly angrily so sometimes, isn't it better to have opinions, even differing ones? It's just a movie after all. Would I like, in my opinion of course, different, better, people at the helm? Sure. Does that make me a 'hator'? In the eyes of many, perhaps so. But this is what we've got for now, so I might as well just roll with it and see what comes each time. Never any need to get angry or dismissive. Some people have all that they want. Some don't. Some are six of one and half a dozen of the other. Or any fraction or percentage inbetween. Way of the world.

'Don't like it so don't watch it' just feels like some people would rather any potential opposing views should be avoided creation rather than welcome a discussion. Doesn't this all bring deeper conversation to light than just having one 'side' watch it and the other not?

Admittedly some conversations regarding these movies aren't very deep at all. Certainly some of the comments from either 'side' have regularly been extremely shallow.

But at least people are dipping their toe in, be it to gingerly test the waters and see if they've gained any depth, or just to splash around wildly until everyone is soaking wet and we can see each others' nipples through the sodden cloth of our shirts.

Everyone come and get wet with me. Even just a little moist will do.

I think something we don't factor in often enough is that there are very few people who are "I loved every frame of the film" or "I hated every frame of the film". Most people seem to fall between those two extremes so there are things they really enjoyed about the films but also things they really didn't enjoy as well.

So for people somewhere in that middle ground perhaps the changes might seem like they are enough changes to push them towards more likes than did not like. If humor was an issue for Revenge of the Fallen then all the promises of a change to the humor for Dark of the Moon might have been something to build some hope on.

Personally I hate the buzz word "dark" but some people like that so perhaps there were people who thought "darker" would make Age of Extinction a more enjoyable film.

Heck, don't put it that way. Going by that tracking point, we'll get another 22 years of this. :)
