So less than a year to go before TF4 hits the big screen. Bay has said that this will be his last, although he keeps coming back. In the event that this is Bays last Transformers film, and that they intend to make a 4th and 5th installment to complete the 2nd trilogy....who are some directors you would like to see take on the project and why?

Me personally, I want to see a dark transformers film. Really I just want a movie about TRANSFORMERS with some human CO-stars.

But I think it would be cool to get Christopher Nolan's take on Transformers. I know some would say I'm a fool but given his past work I think he could totally take this on and possibly make it into something that all the hardcore fans would love....or at least a mojority lol

I'd like a young director who wasn't so set in his ways. Someone that still has that boldness to take chances instead of playing it too safe.

People I'd love to see on these movies:
Guillermo del Toro-Hellboy 2, Pans Labyrinth, Pacific Goddamned Rim
Robert Rodriguez-Spy Kids, From Dusk til Dawn, Desperado, Machete
James Cameron-Avatar, Titanic, Terminator 2, Aliens
Peter Jackson-King Kong, Lord of the Rings
    Kevin Smith-Clerks, Dogma, Red State

people i'd want kept as far away from the franchise as humanly goddamned possible, even if it means we're stuck with Bay:
Uwe Boll: Bloodrayne 2, Alone in the Dark, Dead or Alive
    Joel Schumacher: Batman and Robin
M Night Shamylan: The Village, The Last Airbender
    George Lucas: Stars Wars Prequels.

I'd say Abrams could do a pretty great job, after seeing Star Trek. And everyone's already so pissed off about the way Bay handled the lore, I'm sure even if he threw in some surprise twist like in ST, we'd all be on board.

I actually wouldn't mind Speilberg taking his own shot at the franchise. He had his hands buried into the first one, which is what I think made is as decent as it was, so I'd love to see him do his own thing.

The thing I don't like about J.J. Abrams is the over use of lens flair and that the big reveal is never as good as all the hype about oooo big secret we can't tell you. With Super 8 what might have been in the train car was far more interesting than what we actually got and I can't think of a single Trekker or Trekkie who didn't guess months in advance who Benedict Cumberbatch was really playing.

Peter Jackson might be an interesting choice because he loves geeks and man it would be nice to be loved for a change. Jackson also has a really nice touch with huge epic battles. The battles in Lord of the Rings kind of became the gold standard when it comes to huge battles, everything else just feels like a skirmish.

Well, I haven't seen "Into Darkness" yet, so please don't spoil anything (although, I'm not even a Trekkie, and I have an idea of who he might me), but in regards to Super 8, I feel like the movie aside from the monster was really well done. Particularly in the area of the man characters' story, I found myself caring more about the boy and the girl than the final reveal. Maybe that's not what you'd want in a TF movie, but it worked well in that. I definitely feel that his movies have more of a penchant for stronger writing than Bay's.

Hell, even the first Star Trek, the big reveal in that movie was a pretty good surprise.

God damn, some of these suggestions are so funny that my dr pepper came out through my nose.

Avant garde directors are not appropriate for Transformers. Even Christopher "Dark Knight" Nolan takes himself way too seriously to make an appropriate TF movie. We'd need someone who is adept at making entertaining popcorn movies with heart and clarity. Some of the suggestions I've seen like Whedon or Abrams might work great.

Guillermo del Toro or James Cameron.

Peter Jackson would be worse than Bay, even if he fixes Bay's flaws (Crude humor, not enough robots, blah, blah, blah).

I don't want it to be Bay again. But it will be Bay again. He's the stain that even Cillit Bang can't get rid of. So there's no point me speculating who I'd like to direct TF5 and TF6 because we already all know who it will unfortunately be.

Joss Whedon or James Cameron would probably be decent choices. Whedon's usually done a very good job with what ever he's gone with, and with doing the Avengers (although pretty different from Transformers) he would have a good idea of the scale that the movie should be at.

Cameron as well is always trying to take it than one step further, and that could be a good breakthrough for Transformers if he took over. With Cameron though I'm not sure he would want to come into something that's already ongoing, he would want to be starting the new trilogy rather than continuing on from someone else imo.

I enjoyed Into Darkness it just seems like there were way better selling points than a mystery identity. I felt like I got my money's worth just from the interior shots of the Enterprise. To his credit Abrams really gives you that feeling of the ship being huge.

this is exactly why I think Robert Rodriguez is the best possible idea. guy has done kids movies: Shark boy and Lava Girl , and the Spy Kids trilogy, but he's also done some balls out amazing action flicks Desperado, Once upon a Time in Mexico, Machete, From Dusk Till Dawn, and Planet Terror. I'd love to his type of over the top hyper-violence applied here (seriously go watch Machete) and he could still get away with pg13 cuz they're robots. Hell, Desperado could work as a pg13 flick by simply editing out some "fucks" and Salma Hayak's titties.

I would just like ANY director who could finally do something right with the movie versions of this franchise, whether they're already an established director or completely new. I don't care. Just someone... anyone... who knows how to properly make an actual Transformers movie vs. these alien insectoid robots from space that just happen to also transform into anything they apparently only look at for a millisecond that we keep getting from Bay.
