If this is a common custom (not a gearhead, so I dunno) then the article is full of crap.

One of the designers probably nicked it, and unfortunately, that's just how it goes. Mainstream artists take underground ideas and market them, that's how it's always been. See: all music.

I wouldn't be surprised if they showed him a selection of Camaro pictures gleaned from the internet, and Bay said 'make it like this one'.

For those of you who don't wish to committing to reading whole article:
We list the generic modifications a lot of people do that this guy did and imply very very heavily that Bay, cackling at a computer screen with his white cat on his lap, stole his design. Along with his GM buddies who own the IP.

    or

The internet's "bitch about everything Bay" faction has awoken. Get your umbrellas.

Both look like a pretty bog standard "street fighter" Camaros. That murdered out one's got better looking fender flares, than the new Bumblebee.

Would you disagree that the cars in question are garish and tasteless?

Honestly, when I first saw the C7, it did remind me of the Fast and the Furious movies. And unfortunately, in at least my opinion, the horrid paint job on it ruins what otherwise is a beautiful car not just in aesthetics, but performance.

I guess people aren't allowed their own opinion on things without it being labled as a "bias"......

So I guess I have a bias too.

They're supposed to be garish. The movie supposedly takes a considerable place in or around street racing. Street racing cars are meant to be garish. Bugatti Veyrons being involved in the movie are especially evident.

Tastelessness is a matter of opinion. I honestly don't think they look bad. Especially that Optimus and Camaro.

If only the new 1967 Camaro Bumblebee comes with GT wing, that will be awesome.

I wouldn't be surprised if that were in fact the case.

I guess this kinda sucks for the guy who built the car, but at the same time I can't help but look at this and almost get the same feeling of when toy customizers complain about someone stealing their idea, like when Fun Pub put out that Nightbeat remold. How justified is it really?

All those features are fairly common on sports cars over the last 20 some odd years. Both are simply cases of taking new features and slapping them on an older body to give it a mixed old and new feel.

With all the car guys that are involved in prepping vehicles for these movies, there's no way they just picked some random photo off the internet and made it Bumblebee instead of letting their creative people come up with something on their own, which they'd be chomping at the bit for.

It's called a coincidence. I suspect if you look a while, you'll find any number of other, similar examples.

Maybe the more we look at the new design, the more we may like it but i will still prefer it to be of more yellow though.

I'm noticing a theme. Every time Michael Bay TF movies are accused of something, someone feels the need to dredge up any of the innumerable awful things in 3 decades of TF history to make some sort of point.

My question was in response to Galaxy Convoy's accusation of anti-Bay bias in the article because it accused the cars of being garish, tastelss, and compared them to vehicles from '2 Fast 2 Furious'.

I failed to see the bias there, that's little more than stating the facts.

    That style is pretty common....

I mean, I don't know this guy so I can't judge but seriously, if you google "custom 67 Camaro" plenty of pics will pop up that are almost identical to his (just different paint). Did everybody else copy him off Google too?
