I too am more excited about the upcoming toys than the actual movie. Although, I am curious about the movie as well. Like always, I'll end up seeing it and buying it on DVD

I suppose I'm one of the few who is really excited about TF4, and eagerly looking forward to June 2014.

I respect those who don't like Bay's Transformers, and they have valid reasons to. But I love everything about it (despite its flaws), and have been excited for all three films previously.

Perhaps my movie priorities are simply different. Don't get me wrong, I also love cerebral films that make you ponder about the universe and our existence, and immensely enjoyed those like Cloud Atlas and Inception.

But when it comes to Transformers, something that I grew up with, I'm more into the visceral experience and fulfillment it gives me. Perhaps the live-action films could be better with better writing, plots, etc, like some have said, but those are just not as important to me as it is for other people. It could have an award-winning script, but it won't exponentially increase my enjoyment of the film.

The closest parallel I can think of, is like finding contentment in your life partner, even though he or she may not be the most perfect person. Of course, it would be great if he/she could look like a supermodel or prince charming, but even if they're not, it doesn't matter as that's not what's important to you.

I haven't been interested in a TF movie since the first one. I mean, I'll watch and enjoy this new one, but I learned a long time ago that following all this pre-production stuff will only lead to even greater disappointment when you sit your ass in that theater seat and watch the final product.

If you have the chance to watch ROTF & DOTM from DVD or whichever, you will realize that it has become more crap as each movie goes by.
