It's so disturbing... But I can't look away. O.O How is Two Face still alive and doing stuff like that?!

Any who, back on topic. :lol  I hope Optimus Prime doesn't get too drastic a redesign, since I really like his design in the movies, but a bit of an update would be good. Same goes for Bumblebee; I really want him to still be a Camaro! :D

I like Optimus' flames, but just as long as they keep Optimus in the movies I will be happy

Hopefully they'll scrap all those silly armor panels and truck pieces in robot mode and opt for the '07 Megatron-style mass of totally original metal bits that move like muscle and tendons. Realistic gorilla alt mode.

This is my favourite sentence of the day. :)
While in one way that's true, there still has to be something done to make those designs different enough to make people want to buy toys of those characters all over again. After three movies I imagine there's quite a degree of design fatigue setting in. Transformers is all about change and there's only so many times people, especially the oh-so vital non-collector general toy-buying public, will buy the same design over and over again ('You already have that Optimus and Bumblebee'). So while keeping the old designs might be great for Paramount, Hasbro really need something new, even moreso for their two biggest movie characters so they can keep selling the shit out of them while the movie is showcasing them (which is what it's all about to Hasbro after all: a big toy advertisment). As it stands, there have been so many Optimus and Bumblebee movie figures across all the size classes that they're probably the ones that suffer from design fatigue most of all.

Something has to be done. Maybe not a radical full redesign, but it has to be different enough that kids and their parents see an Optimus or Bumblebee figure in a store and realise it's a new one and not something they might've already purchased last time and can just walk on past.

It's a tricky balancing act, sure - to retain the recognition that's been built up for the movies, but also to keep giving the public something different they want to buy. But then look at it this way: if the movies showcase the new design then anyone that's been following it will know it's Optimus Prime because the movies told them so. Make a new recognition factor for the new character design. That's kinda the point of using it to advertise the toys, isn't it? It's how Hasbro have been able to sell new Optimus Prime designs over so many years. As long as it has an Optimus Prime-ness about it and kids are told it's Optimus Prime then I doubt there'd be a problem with recognition.

But yeah, you're probably right. They'll just go the cheap and easy and lazy route and just keep Optimus the same, maybe with some very minor tweaks.

Hasbro will never let anything Transformers not include Optimus and Bumblebee these days since the movies "changed everything." Which they did of course, but now we're stuck with Bumblebee toys out the ass since Hasbro is certain that kids want 500 million Bee's in their toy box.

We know those two are in, and I'm hoping they keep Ratchet and Sideswipe. The latter is pretty popular since damn, he's good, and the former is a core member of the Autobots thanks to Aligned fiction.

It'll be interesting to see if the series will continue without Megatron, Starscream and Soundwave, or if they'll be brought back.

I'd be surprised if he stayed the same, three movies and all he did was get a six pack.

If he does get a different design I hope it does something new that we haven't seen in other Optimie before, like, I don't know, two face plates or something?

I'd love it if he got more beef, too, like on WFC and Beast Hunters Prime though I may be one of the few who liked those Primes.

Also please have a less ugly face thanks bye

Ahaaa Brilliant harvey dent pic. Personally they should change the aesthetic and transformations. The robots are just way too big to physically fit inside the vehicles at any rate. What they went for there was cool CGI. I'd like to see an older style for optimus personally. Bumblebee...I love the character but not so much in the movie. He was over used and ended up as a cheap novelty. Bee from TFP is much cooler. I wouldn't mind seeing some of the old characters but maybe make them more G1 styled. Or if not, make transformation more realistic.

I'm inclined to agree than a change is called for and would not be an issue: Especially with Optimus, the iconic look of his red, windowed chest and mostly blue head with antenna and an (Often optional these days) faceplate is MORE than enough for even children to easily guess at his identity. The baritone rumble of Peter Cullen will seal the deal and remove all doubt within moments of Prime speaking. Toss in a quick line about 'upgrades' or 'swapping bodies' or something and even casual fans should be okay. They're shape-changeing alien robots, their metal frames are their LEAST important part.

Design-wise, I like the general aesthetic from the Prime show, but would scale back some of the cartoony proportions. The key is that they look like coherant, humanoid robots that integrate their alt modes, rather than haveing a few chunks of car here or there. They don't have to go anywhere near as blocky as G1 or even the Classics toys, but I think going back to Vehicles that turn into Robots, rather than Robots who magically turn into vehicles, would work out very well.

While we can speculate what would be good for Hasbro I can't help but wonder just how much control Hasbro has over the movies? Property owners and the studios will always talk nice about each other and how closely they work together because money is on the line, but it seems like places give up a lot of control when they hand something off to Hollywood.

Some things in the movies just don't seem like they would not have gotten the official Hasbro seal of approval if Hasbro had any real control over these films. If Hasbro and the production team worked so closely together then it's just odd that the live action movies are the one property that doesn't feel as much like Transformers as the other Transformers media.

If they do change Movie Prime, I hope they stay at least consistent with the design and not do what they did on Beast Hunters and make him a slavish G1 homage. I mean, as much as I bitch, whine and complain about the Transformers Live-Action Movies and their designs looking like their alt Modes stuffed into a blender and re-assembled into a humanoid form, Their designs are Iconic to the movies. You change that and fans will bitch

Longhaul had a G1 design, it doesn't have to be a flat nose cab, which I see all the time, It could simply mean a more solid robot form without the excessive panels, and kibble.

I hope he gets a redesign basically like how TFP Optimus became BH Optimus. I like his current design, but it is getting old.

I saw one just the other day. A cab over Optimus without blue flames would be sick.

I'm predicting they will redesign the supporting robots to be more visually distinct. OP and BB were easy to find on screen, but sometimes, it was tough to tell which jumble of mechanical parts was which. Making them more closely match G1 colors/boxiness would kill two birds with one stone. The G1 designs are nice solid, distinct blobs of color that would work well for giving the characters more character, and make things less busy on screen, while at the same time appeasing long time fans.

I would be interested in maybe seeing the same vehicle modes but the robots that come out of them be different, with different transformation schemes. Perhaps something a bit more like Bumblebee's IDW design that's soon going to be coming as a toy. And Optimus have his legs come from the nose of his truck mode and his arms from the rear of it. Just to shake things up.

He'll go gold, his eyes will go green and and his helmet will sprout long hair. You know, classic Super Saiyan powering-up stuff.

    Which in theory sounds awesome.
