Looking at Evac made me think how cool would it be non-real world futuristic vehicles would be in a TF movie. Much like the 86 movie characters.

TF and Dark of the Moon already sort of made it with Brawl and the Wreckers.

As both cases are not really a disguise.

I doubt it would happen. There would be two options 1) Make really expensive customized concept cars and vehicles 2) Use expensive CGI, which on top of that would make the vehicles look too unrealistic

It would be cool if they made some concept cars, but like I said, it'd probably cost too much. Just my :2c:

If the movie was set in the year(s) 2030+, then yeah, I can see more stylized, futuristic vehicles being used. In fact, that'd be awesome for a proposed reboot. But for Bayformers as it stands now? Not a chance.

Plus, as MV pointed out, they'd have to pull an I, Robot/Total Recall/Minority Report and either build extremely expensive practical cars from the ground up that can actually drive and such but look futuristic enough OR the vehicles would have to be completely computer generated (or a mixture of the two methods, but all choices are expensive and time-consuming).

The Batman vehicles would make very good Protectobots.

Not to contradict what you're saying, TM (I would never be so bold!), but they did pretty much scratch-build TF1 Bumblebee and RotF Sideswipe, didn't they?

Yes they did. GM gave them the blueprints and they build them from scratch.

The cybertronian alt-modes we've seen so far have been... disappointing at best.

As for futuristic vehicles, I'd prefer something plausible and physical, rather than a fantasy vehicle done in cgi. Even if its just a concept vehicle, that'd be enough for me.

I think setting the films in the far future would make more problems then the concept is worth.

That could just work. Maybe someone can put those in combiner mode just to see how it goes...

I can't really agree with that, I think ROTF Megatron's tank and Soundwave's satellite are his best ever modes. The idea of a Cybertronian alt mode that's so exclusive, so special and powerful it negates the need for an Earth mode, is actually quite an impressive idea to develop.

And hopefully there can be more of such modes, within both sides of the Transformers.

Evac is honestly the only really cool Cybertronian alt-mode in the movieverse.

Okay, actually ROTF Megs was pretty kickass, but still. Soundwave was cool, too, but I'd much rather he be a UAV like he is in Prime - both of them are better than a Mercedes :U

ROTF Megs was the champion of the Cybertronian modes. Giant shredder flying tank from space with turbo boosters and his face at the front, how is this not awesome?

Alas, Megs died (and became a truck too, though the truck was still cool in its defence) so now I'll never have giant shredder flying tanks from space with turbo boosters and facs at the front again.

    Woe is Meta.

I'd like to see more extensive flashbacks to Cybertron.

The alien architecture of the place. I want to see highways full of strange sleek vehicles traversing bizarre metallic environments.

I agree. I'd like to see Cybertron before the wars during the "Golden Age". Nothing against the previous movies renditions of Cybertron - but its so dark and fast paced that its difficult to grasp what you're seeing.

Yes. I'd love to see a few flashback scenes of Megatron and Optimus as allies!

The only Cybertronian vehicle modes we've seen in the movies are just Megatron's. So I'd actually love to see more Cybertronian vehicle modes, and futuristic vehicle modes would be cool if the movie was set in the future.

I'm with Aernaroth on this one. I've been let down by Megatron's Cybertronian mode and Soundwave's Cybertronian satellite.

If we'd be able to get longer, more substantial scenes showcasing the Cybertronian vehicles, then sure. But if we're just going to see them for 4 seconds in two shots, then...meh.

True, true, good point. :)  But I think the main difference between "custom building an ~2012 Camaro and Corvette in ~2007-2011" is that, well, they're plausible cars. Cars that would be seen on the road/in show rooms at the time, or in the near future. Now, "custom building a super fancy slick sci-fi fantasy blob on four wheels and a cockpit" for a more futuristic take on Transformers? I'm not sure how keen car companies would be on that. Easier to get promotion and funding when you showcase contemporary vehicles, rather than fantasy future vehicles. They'd probably rather hard work go into the vehicles that'd be easier to promote. You know, "Hey, watch the 2011 Transformers movie because the new concept Camaro and Corvette will be in it, and be on the roads the following year!" (or whatever). Meanwhile, how would you promote the super fancy futuristic cars? "Hey, watch the 2011 Transformers movie because, well, uh... there's gonna' be these super cool custom 2034 Camaros and Corvettes in it. We don't know if they'll be on the road at that time, or made at all, but yeah, you can still see the Chevy logo! I think." (This example all hinges on car companies wanting to promote their vehicles heavily in the movie...)

    Isn't Cybertron already kinda... futuristic-looking?

We also see Soundwave's Alternate Cybertronian mode in ROTF. Not necessarily a vehicle but it was still Cybertronian in nature. Just like Shockwave and The Fallen would've no doubt been, considering the overall designs of the two characters.

We've only really got glimpses so far. I can't remember what the first two showed, but DOTM had a solid minute at the start that left me hungry for more. I think it really added to the scope of the movie.

If there's one thing that could get me excited for the new movie, it'd be a more extensive look into that world. I'm sure their top people would come up with incredible designs and spectacular landscapes.

Nothing stopping them doing the whole futuristic robots - especially after DOTM where they need to rebuild and could use the technology from the fallen Decepticon leader and Sentinel Prime.

    Just pointing out... the way things are going with Transformers (Rumored talk of 6-9 with possibly going up to 12 - "We are embarking on a new trilogy" Bay) it'll end up getting pretty close to 2030 just in pure sequels;

    Spaced at a movie every 2 years;
    TF4 - 2014
    TF5 - 2016
    TF6 - 2018
    TF7 - 2020
    TF8 - 2022
    TF9 - 2024
    TF10 - 2026
    TF11 - 2028
    TF12 -2030

That's true. The vehicles they've been using have been early concepts of future vehicles with real companies making them. But there is a lot in the way of futuristic-looking concept vehicles out there. I was just looking at a Car and Driver yesterday, in fact, which had a section showcasing a lot of new stuff that's being incepted right now.

And hey, they could always go the I, Robot or Back to the Future route, and just slap a hover kit on existing cars lol.
