how would a live action metroplex work?

And then if things really turn to shit, at the core of that city would be a large hub building that turns into Metroplex. I think it would still be spectacular in a live-action movie setting - a huge metal city changing from open bright areas and cool futuristic buildings to a closed-up armoured battle base bristling with weaponry. And at the centre of it all a respectably giant robot that can come out and kick ultimate ass if the situation requires it. Maybe he's also able to pick up weapons from the city and use them too.

It would be cool but it wouldn't work that well (so it would work but it would probably be really bad) considering that every footstep he would take would cause a earth quake which would probably kill a ton of humans every time.

The only way I could see this working well is if he is some kind of battle ship or flying battle platform so at least he isn't too big. We also have to consider how complicated bays designs are imagine how bad metroplex could look if he is done incorrectly but then again bay has proven me wrong several times.

Logic... why the hell does everyone need it?

Seriously... give us Metroplex and ignore the physics of having the robot their. Say his insides are hollow or something or his cybertronian parts are lighter due to the size of his body. Heck, ignore that completely and noone will care because you have a city that transforms into a robot!
