Black Mamba is correct, fact is Brawl is the tank in TF1 the subtitles were finished around half hour before the films premiere and this minor typo was overlooked.
On another note to correct loads of people in DOTM watch very carefully when shockwave fires on Optimus, shockwaves attack clearly is a ball and chain of sorts which tangles up prime as he attempts to avoid the shot. and not prime getting tangled up in steel tension cables from the wrecked building.
Also because a few people think that the whole city was deserted of civillions you can clearly see in several scenes that their are groups of survivurs.

Back on topic yes Metroplex can be done even thou he is a triple changer but apart from the many little bits and details as he transforms (think fall of cybertron) his main body is very simple and humanold. and in G1 he is part of autobot city

I like the idea of Metroplex as a massive mobile base. People see guys like him and Fort Max and go "OMG he turns into a city awesome", and I think "Yeah, that's pretty good, but the whole being able to move thing is kinda important too."

Metroplex as a mobile city platform would work and keep him in the background rather than upclose to create the sence if scale which reduce`s the amount of detail needed and also saves server farms being melted when rendered.

    You're only partially correct.

    Via TFWiki.

Clearly Bay wanted the tank to be called Devastator, and disregarded everyone else's protests to keep it that way.

I think the name suits him well. He is somewhat of a Devastator.

    :lol

I think it would be cool if he turned into an aircraft carrier.

I'll have to agree to disagree too, because everytime Hasbro does this I facepalm. Is it that hard to come up with an original name?

There's just so much carelessness with the whole nameslap business. I feel like if they're going to use the name, they should try to get it right, and if they're going to do something entirely new, they should call it something new. The whole practice just seems awkward, ridiculous, and creates too many messy situations.

-10 minutes to evacuate the entire city
    -5 minutes for transformation
-gyroscopic rooms that always stay level for the ones who don't have the time to evacuate

"Hey, Metroplex! Whenever you get the chance, buddy?"

That's something that I really want to see more of: NEW NAMES. I mean, someone of the pre-production names for movie characters seem like they're just screaming to be new characters in the franchise. Rush, Rumbler, Dreadwind, etc.. I suppose copyright issues and legal garbly-gook would interfere substantially with their choices, but still. Have five guys sit down for thirty minutes to brainstorm any and all new names, and I'm sure they can come up with a good dozen or so usable names.

There's always going to be at least SOME reuse of names, if only because it's more cost-effective to use names already "owned" by Hasbro, and to protect said intellectual property rights.

I guess I'm just so used to multiple, completely different variants of characters with the same name that it doesn't bother me? I guess maybe if they turned a character's name that I liked into a character I loathed, maybe I'd change my mind, but at the same time, I'm always interested in seeing the franchise blaze new territory, especially in the movies. Even if I know that it's not always feasible... or well done...

Let's assume all the technology is there to make a live-action Metroplex without any issues such as a computer crashing and things like that.

    - From an artistic point of view, Metroplex could probably work. Granted, the amount of detail that would have to go into it would be astounding, but it's not physically impossible. It could be done, but would take a long time.

    - From a writers point of view, it would be very difficult to add Metroplex into a live-action setting. In flash-backs back on Cybertron, maybe, but explaining how he arrived and settled on Earth, without being noticed or causing damage, and making the story seem believable, would be incredibly difficult.

Yeah, why don't they use new names like Rumbler or Dreadwind instead of stealing names from other guys?

Assuming he wasn't just built on Earth. And people know about TF now so maybe keeping his arrival a secret probably wouldn't be such a requirement.

As for not being noticed if he did just arrive, I'm sure a way could be found to blind any devices that could detect an incoming giant TF. Maybe Metroplex himself has some kind of stealth technology.

It would be cool but it wouldn't work that well (so it would work but it would probably be really bad) considering that every footstep he would take would cause a earth quake which would probably kill a ton of humans every time.

The only way I could see this working well is if he is some kind of battle ship or flying battle platform so at least he isn't too big. We also have to consider how complicated bays designs are imagine how bad metroplex could look if he is done incorrectly but then again bay has proven me wrong several times.

I think it could be done, but he would need to be something more realistic. Make him an offshore oil rig. If he was out far enough from shore but not in a shipping lane, a "new" old rig probably wouldn't turn too many heads. And he could have landed in any ocean and swam to his current location to avoid detection.

Then we could get the climactic ending of Prime riding his shoulder out to fight a movie version of Tidal Wave.
