Starscream looks like a bot and not a giant bird. Such a shame

I can't see why anyone would want Starscream to look like his concept art. He doesn't even have a mouth, nor any expression. Now if Shockwave have a mouth like that since he just HAD to have one in the movie, then that would be awesome. Better yet, give Screamer's face-plate to Soundwave. Movie Starscream isn't perfect, but he sure as hell is better than what's in that book.

the first hot rod's head design looks quite similar to my fan design of him, which is pretty neat. i love his shin pads, neat design choice there. i'm not feeling battleship megatron's kind of boring design. starscream is awesome, but not as cool as the final movie one imo. sam's mech looks... strange. shockwave is AWESOME, i'm in love with the chest window and the head design. the second hot rod looks weird.

    OH MY GOD!

Hot Rod with Sais!? Hot Rod with Tonfas!? OH MAN!

*Ok now that I got myself together*

Alright, this is smart as shit too. Hot Rod's G1 alt mode was based on the Dome Zero (which was a private Nissan powered concept car). So this 2nd Hot Rod concept being a Nissan is a nice nod.......

Add to the fact that it looks like it's a Nissan Skyline GTR body on him, known in Japan as the MUSCLE CAR of Japan, again being a true HOT ROD rooted concept.......

    Love it.

If they could keep the 2nd Hot Rod's shoulders and chest with the 1st Hot Rod body, I think they would have a seriously awesome robot

Actually, aren't those early Jetfire and Breakaway designs? They both went through a lot of iterations, even if the latter did end up being dropped.

That Shockwave looks so much better than the one in the movie. So does that Starscream.

O_O so at some point, they were thinking of having Hot Rod in the movies?

I freakin' love that Shockwave, he looks like he bench pressed a planet or two, keep in mind Shockwave only has one and to bench press with.

Nice find! Those are some awesome concepts.

Also, I always have to :lol  at threads that discuss unused concept art or fan art for characters or anything like that. There's always the side that thinks that everyone would've way rather had the artwork/designs that weren't used...and then it's promptly followed by someone who doesn't like it and thinks that everyone else shouldn't like it. Nothing wrong with that, mind you. The world would be boring if we all liked the same thing. But I can't help but wonder why some people think there is a magic equation that would allow for a movie (or designs) to be universally accepted by every single fan out there. "Ugh, how could anyone like these unused designs? It's a great thing they hit the cutting room floor!!1!"...*five seconds later*..."Man, these are all WAY better than the crap we got! How could anyone NOT like these?" :lol

See why couldn't we have smoother more basic designs like these in the movies, they're easier on the eyes and make out a more refined body shape then just peices of sharp metal squeezed into a shape of a robot.

Seeing them in motion might be different than static images, though I do like the cleaner lines as well.

I wonder if the tf 4 designs will look like this. More smooth and less spiky.

I think they will look good on screen. Iron man is smooth and looks great when he moves so why not transformers.

Both of those Hot Rods would have been disappointing to me as a Bayverse design fan and a Hot Rod fan. It's too dull for Bayverse and it doesn't have enough of a likeness to Hot Rod, as in, yellows and flames and shades of maroon.

The Starscream is also far too generic.

I also dont like these at all. They look far to generic and not nearly as good as the ones they used in the movie.

The current movie bots also looked sleek in the concept art. It's the translation from art to 3D model that messes with things.
