I love that the only example of anyone typing like that in this thread came from you ;)

When people like you say things like that, in that way, all I can think of is this...

It's a great example of the inner workings of the rabid Bay-fan's mind.

Reasonable explanation: Megatron does it to sound more threatening-they learned our languages through the world wide web, thus when Megatron awoke and scanned or internet, he found the most terrifying voices had creatures had a growl to them. Wanting the same, he does the same. lso explains voices like Jazz, the Twins, and the Wreckers-fit their own personal style.

Likely real reason? Bay wanted snarling monsters, yadda yadda, you know the drill.

An even smarter man would ask why the hell was a army of decepticons against 5 or 6 autobots not strong enough to destroy them, yet the autobots are the ones that lost the war on cybertron?

To be fair, we humans are so easy to scare. Megatron snarls and roars because he enjoys our terror and how our little insect feet try to escape him, and he's going to serenade us with his feral growls while he comes after us, tracking the sweet scent of fear, musing on how he's gonna snap our limbs off and strip our flesh off, bit by bit.

    Sadistic fucker he be.

Sort of what I was thinking.

Personally, I like the snarling, savage aspect the 'Cons have in this series. It ain't a bad thing for the bad guys to be feral monsters.

I don't buy the "Snarling Megatron" is to scare humans. It's implied, then, that Megatron has always been trying to be a big monster to scare humans? even though he was technically frozen for the vast majority of the rise of human kind. How does Megatron know what scares humans? Was he are snarly before he was frozen? If so, why? He was frozen before humans had even evolved. Are Autobots scared of snarling monsters?

Yeah, I like it too; I enjoy the more brutal take on guys like Bonecrusher and Barricade and that.

I can understand why people would be dissatisfied with that, though, since the Autobots and Decepticons are both Cybertronian, yet look very different from each other.

Granted, it doesn't bother me, 'cause I just figured a society of shape-shifting robots who can alter their bodies on a molecular level can just copy the general gist of their leader/peers.

    EDIT: Response to Mister Gone:

Well, true, he hasn't always been scaring humans.

But considering the Autobots reaction to his arrival in Mission City: "It's Megatron! Fall back! Move, fall back!", it does imply that the leader of the Decepticons certainly strikes fear into the sparks of most Autobots, especially considering his brutality and power.

But not because he snarls and drools. The Prime Megatron, as an example, does a fine job scaring the crap out of Autobots without looking like a mad-dog. It's sad that the cartoons ( not just Prime) play the characters smarter than the movies.

Well, the snarling does imply something inhuman (granted Megatron isn't a human, but you get the analogy), and inhuman things coming from a human form can be more terrifying than something inhuman to begin with.

Prime Megs is also great at intimidation, helps that he's a gladiator, but his problem is that he's more hesitant to just straight-up murder the Autobots when he gets the chance. First thing Movie Megs did upon arrival was snag Jazz and rip him apart. Prime Megs could have easily murdered Bulk, Bee and Ratchet at the space bridge, but didn't.

That's actully a really good point. The Bayverse Megatron really can't be compared to any other Megatron because he is unique to the movies. Megatron-in-name-only, he is the US Godzilla of the franchise, much like the rest of the movieverse, TINO.

We assume it's snarling but maybe it's just gas. Megapong.

I think I'd mind the snarling far less if the Decepticons were shown to be a lot more than just growling monsters most of the time.

That's exactly his problem - he's great at starting it, but when it comes to the finish line, he doesn't follow through (ironic, ain't it?). By all rights, Starscream should have died in Out of His Head alongside Ratchet and Bumblebee, the latter two being torn apart upon Megatron's awakening and the former right at the end, before Megatron turns the power of the Nemesis on Optimus, Arcee, and Bulkhead. He also has a habit of gloating at the finish - not exactly smart there.

Let's look at it this way...Transformers wasnt a dead franchise before Bay and it most definately isnt after Bay. It was kewl to see they finally worked out how to make Transformations come across in a real world environment without being all clunky SciFy channel CGI. After Bay and the successfullness of the movies we now have $18 deluxes and almost $30 voyagers. To that I say shame on Hasbro and Bay since TF4 is being made for toy value only. TF3 was a disappointment because it didnt sell enough toys but at the prices they are going for will TF4 do any better?? Besides the guy that did Megss voice said he was basicall doing it for a check. Hopefully they will get people who at least will pretend they care about the content rather than phoning in a lame halfassed performance.
