Anyone know if TF4 will have a presence at this years comic con? Maybe with a panel and some footage? Might be a good way to get audiences acquainted with the new cast.

Maybe... maybe not... if it hasnt been reported on here then it likely hasnt been confirmed yet. I'm guessing they will have some presence at this years comic con - though i dont feel it'll be much more than a poster reveal - given that comic con happens during filming.

It's really hard to say because Hollywood isn't as in love with Comic Con as they once were. There was a time when Hollywood thought that Comic Con could be used as part of the marketing of a film, but movies have gotten lots of positive buzz out of Comic Con only to have disappointing numbers at the domestic box office.

These days it seems like for movies it comes down to if the movie team likes interacting with the fans at Comic Con or not. You have some directors who are such geeks they can't stand to miss Comic Con while you have other directors who look down at the Comic Con geeks so they will only go when the studio forces them there.

San Diego is spending half a billion dollars to expand their convention center in order to keep Comic Con there. I'd say Comic Con is still very much the huge player it has been for the last several years.

Comic Con isn't going to slow down any time soon. It's still going to be a huge event because there will be creative people who see it as the best way for them to connect fans. You have plenty of creative people who want to be there. And for geeks and nerds it's one of the biggest events of year so even the people who can't make it still want to be there.

But now it seems like it's shifting to directors, producers, actors, and writers want to be at Comic Con instead of the marketing team saying they have to show up to generate buzz.

Even without as many films using it for marketing Comic Con is still monstrously huge with TV shows, comic books, toys, fan costumes, and all the mega cool stuff they somehow jam in there.

I doubt it would happen because the panel would degenerate to people going BOOOOOO! and throwing rotten tomatoes at them.

I'd rather they have a Prime panel instead this year,

Honestly, i feel the 'Prime panel' is much more likely as it could be the last series of Transformers Prime and Hasbro will want people to 'Buy the Toys' and everything so they may focus on Transformers Prime and save the TF4 stuff till later.

I guess the big question is what would they present at a Comic Con panel? Hi we are doing a movie but we can't tell you anything about it and we can't answer any of your questions.

If you ask me, the only reason the G1 comics didn't have Transformers in a city more popular than Oregon was because they didn't want their stories to conflict with superheroes living in New York.

Well, July is going to be right smack in the middle of filming, so there would be footage to show. Whatever CGI is needed for the movie would also have been started months before, so it's possible they could have something to show there too.
