Yeah, ROTF was on FX last night- and they only gave it 1 star!
Now, I realize that it wasn't a crowning cinematic achievement or award winner... but 1 star seems kinda harsh if you ask me. Give it 2 stars... but 1? It weren't THAT bad.

 

And after that people says that Transformers is an element of mass culture.

Yeah, that sounds about right. I've been seeing the same on other networks, I think some have been slightly more generous.

 

I suppose the one star was due to the agony of waiting for the pointless human scenes to finish up so we could see some actual Transformers.

 

1 star is extremely generous.

Not saying it was a decent movie in any way possible (it's terrible, I hated it the first time I watched it), but as stupid as this will sound: it's become kind of bandwagoning cool to hate on this movie in every way possible.

Doesn't matter that it still did a great job on FX, amongst other things: saying *some* things are good about this movie will earn you a beating.


I'd say 2 stars out of 5 would be more fair. 1 is deserved for the really, really, really bad. There are tons of movies that are way more terrible.  

 

In its defense there some horrid movies that get 5 stars, that will bore you to death

No kidding. Anyone who thinks ROTF is a one star movie have obviously never actually seen a one star movie.

easily 1 star movies that I have seen...

Battlefield Earth, Batman and Robin, Buddy Cop, Meet the Spartans, Catwoman, Jaws: The Revenge, Street Fighter, Howard the Duck, Street Fighter: The Legend of Chun-Li, DOA: Dead or Alive, Tekken, League of Extraordinary Gentlemen...

ROTF fits in nicely with the above films.

Transformers has three stars on most networks. But yeah ROTF should've at least gotten 2 stars.

 

opinions are like ***holes, everyone's got one, and everyone thinks there's don't stink...

and reviews are exactly that ... OPINION ... just because you don't believe mine, or Roeper's, or Empire Magazine's, etc, doesn't invalidate our opinions.

In my OPINION, ROTF is a one star film, and the worst of the three TF movies. It isn't as technologically groundbreaking as the first, it's 45 minutes too long, the story is pure crap, the acting is horrible, and the twins showcase Michael Bay's juvenile love of racist humor. Nothing redeeming about that movie.

That's why I think it's a one star movie.

 

I agree. While overall IMO it was a bad movie, their were some good parts. The fight scenes were pretty good for example. And I would watch it again, so based on that alone I wouldn't say it's a 1 star movie.

'The Cube' comes to mind. There's 2 hours of my life ill never get back. As well as 'Battlefield: Earth'

 

I'd personally give it a two if only because of the Forest Fight and the glory of Jetfire. But that's freaking it.

Pros
- The Forest Battle

- Shanhai opening

- Megatron and starscream squabbling

- Bee vs Rampage and Ravage

Cons
- Craptastic storytelling

- The Twins. I could care less if they were racist, they were just annoying and took up most of the screentime.

- The Pacing was awful after the forest battle.

- Alice. How did that contribute anything to the story?

- Comedy on the level of Meet the Spartans and Disaster Movie.

Whats great in ROTF really is great. But the cons really outweight the positves. I'll say 1.5 out of 5. 1 star should be for movies like Disaster Movie, Wolverine Origins, or Batman and Robin, films which have next to nothing good about them.

How Vanilla Sky ever managed to get any critical acclaim was beyond me.
