Their only purpose was to find out who was hacking into the computer system for information on Sam and the Allspark. They then just face Frenzy........

Replace Leo with Glenn and for a plot twist, replace Alice with Maggie (something that happens between films, she'd be human in TF1).

Personally, it would really be rather meh to me. I don't love or hate the characters so I am fine whether they are in it or not.

Maggie, I liked as the seemingly only competent female character in the first movie who wasn't overly sexualized and/or stupid. She I wouldn't mind returning in TF4, maybe partnered with a smart bot like Ratchet.

Glenn, I hated since he fit the Bayverse trope of the hysterical black character. (Epps had his moments of over-the-top hysterics as well.) Any supposed humor he brought to the table was horribly forced and unfunny in the extreme. Glenn's role could easily have been folded into and expanded Maggie's character instead.

I thought both were great but it is a movie about robots. Show me more robots.

You know, this would have actually been a great plot point, showing certain humans adopting transformers.

Quoted for truth! While Glen and Maggie did not do a whole lot, they both did far more than Sam and Mikela.

Glen: I like him because unlike Leo he was a comic relief character who actually did something. He is also much less annoying, and you actually do get to see a bit of genius under all the goofball. I would have much liked to see him taken further.

Maggie: Smart and pretty without being overly sexualized? Yes! At least she doesn't look orange due to all the spray tan.

Sam: poor shit who has a car that turns into a robot. I would have left him behind after the first half of the movie.

Mikela: What did she do besides provide fanservice?

I agree, although not on the Glen part.

If I had been writing the movie, Major Lennox would have been the main character, and he would lead a group of soldiers that find themselves on the front line of an alien war. Maggie would have played a role somewhat similar to the role she already plays, but also does some more. Glen would have been like Epp's nephew or something, and would be a genius goofball.

In short, yes I would have liked to see more of them.

I honestly thought you were talking about the walking dead's Maggie and Glenn for a few seconds.

Providing they're toned down, I really don't mind Sam's parents being in the movie. No pot-smoking Mom, no "She comes first"-book, no Dad scolding humping dogs, and their inclusion is fine.

Granted, if TF4 has nothing to do with Sam, then obviously I don't want his parents randomly being in it...but still. I found them tolerable. In fact, I really liked the deleted scene from RotF of them in Paris conversing about Sam. A nice little scene between them.

Absolutely. I didn't mind them so much in the first movie, but they really upped the annoying factor in the second two.

I will say though, the scene in Egypt between Sam and his dad is a total exception for me. Probably the most moving scene in the movie in my opinion...maybe the entire trilogy.

Agreed about the Sam/his dad scene in Egypt. Definitely one of the more emotional scenes. And the deleted scene in RotF with Sam's parents in Paris only strengthens that scene, because it shows that Sam's dad really will miss Sam and doesn't want to see his little boy grow up and leave home.

I liked them but they had no place in the sequels. I guess they could have worked for NEST or the military as I could see them helping Sam in DOTM.

    This.

Don't get me wrong, they were... okay characters. But utterly, utterly unnecessary in a movie that already had too much padding.

Had me wondering for a minute.

Maggie, yes. Because she was much better looking than Megan Fox.

It's one of (the few) deleted scenes on the RotF bonus features. It's a nice character moment, with some laughs, between Ron and Judy in Paris. I believe it was meant to lead into the destruction scene when the 'Cons invade later in the movie. I recommend watching it/them.

Maggie was fine. Retaining her as a hacker (or a key consultant) with the government would have made sense.

Glenn would have been OK if his performance was less absurd. The manic performance of the mother on pot was similarly non-funny in ROTF.

I have to agree with this. Actually was well done especially in a movie like ROTF.
