    "see thread title"

I personally would pick someone like Joss Whedon (which is probably the most obvious answer) or Bryan Singer. I think either of these directors can do something interesting with the lore and do more interesting characterizations with the transformers and humans (if they have to be in the movie)

    Joss mutha-fukin Wheedon.

Avengers showed he knows how to deliver on story, showcasing characters the audience came to see, a solid main villian and delivering on the action and spectacle. The city battle in Avengers was way more fast paced and fun than the DOTM city battle. And the best thing about the battle, NO US military taking up screen time.

Nah, police or military should appear if there's time. The good guys have to win and the bad guys need to prove how powerful they are. So, bring a bunch of cops to surround Loki so he can school them.

Gore Verbinski, Zack Snyder, Sam Raimi or Darren Aronofsky.

    Preferably Raimi.

Peter jackson, have him do scenes like tintin's no-cut cycle chase to follow a multi-character (but only a handful of bots in one area) battle or chase or RACE.

Have there be clear goals for both factions, dinobots, star seekers and any other faction/subfaction, not just Autobots vs Decepticons making war for war's sake.

Have teams pursuing myths, relics, or even simply allies in addition to "autobots ward off decepticon savages"

Have it follow only the robots, or use the human as a tool to give the bots backstory.

I would have said Peter Jackson but The Hobbit was disappointing. Very little time given to the characters or dialogue. A ton of CGI fighting that wasn't in the book.

Ultimately I don't care who it would be, they just have to be well rounded and have their priorities straight.

Ingmar Bergman, Alfred Hitchock, George P Cosmatos, they're all about as likely as some of the other names mentioned here.

Now, just interchange “TF live action movie”, "Transformers Reboot", "Transformers Movie #X" (or whatever the appropriate phrase may be in this context).

But on topic for this thread, my top choices would be Spielberg, Bay or Zemeckis, the first and last of those being directors who can handle competent and intelligible action/sci-fi movies.

But in the end, it really doesn't matter to me. I judge the product based on the product itself, not the name under "Directed By...". If it was directed by Joe Schmoe Inglebaker Chicken Catcher, it wouldn't matter. Did I enjoy it? Did I not enjoy it? I'll decide after watching the movie.

Brad Bird. He proved he could do a good giant robot film with The Iron Giant. I'd love to see his take on Transformers.

I agree, one thing I've learned in recent years is that a big name, or even past successes, doesn't automatically guarantee quality.

We really should merge all those threads and rename it "What if X did a TF film" and have it bumped frequently :lol  if it can prevent new threads being made as much as possible.

    Guillermo del Toro

I don't care if Pacific Rim isn't even out yet. That man clearly knows how to handle giant motherfucking robots without a crippling addiction to explosions and sex appealing female leads.

    THIS.

Honestly, I find this statement ironic.

Oh yeah, I some how forgot about Stephen Spielberg. I'd say he'd make a good Transformers movie.

James Cameron! His work in Avatar was :jawdropper:

I really would like to see a live-action movie of Cybertron, and I think James Cameron would be able to do that!

How can you make a live action movie, on a planet, where the buildings are huge, and the population is giant robots?
