"see thread title"

I personally would pick someone like Joss Whedon (which is probably the most obvious answer) or Bryan Singer. I think either of these directors can do something interesting with the lore and do more interesting characterizations with the transformers and humans (if they have to be in the movie)

Joss mutha-fukin Wheedon.

Avengers showed he knows how to deliver on story, showcasing characters the audience came to see, a solid main villian and delivering on the action and spectacle. The city battle in Avengers was way more fast paced and fun than the DOTM city battle. And the best thing about the battle, NO US military taking up screen time.

Nah, police or military should appear if there's time. The good guys have to win and the bad guys need to prove how powerful they are. So, bring a bunch of cops to surround Loki so he can school them.

Gore Verbinski, Zack Snyder, Sam Raimi or Darren Aronofsky.

Preferably Raimi.

Peter jackson, have him do scenes like tintin's no-cut cycle chase to follow a multi-character (but only a handful of bots in one area) battle or chase or RACE.

Have there be clear goals for both factions, dinobots, star seekers and any other faction/subfaction, not just Autobots vs Decepticons making war for war's sake.

Have teams pursuing myths, relics, or even simply allies in addition to "autobots ward off decepticon savages"

Have it follow only the robots, or use the human as a tool to give the bots backstory.

I would have said Peter Jackson but The Hobbit was disappointing. Very little time given to the characters or dialogue. A ton of CGI fighting that wasn't in the book.

Ultimately I don't care who it would be, they just have to be well rounded and have their priorities straight.

Ingmar Bergman, Alfred Hitchock, George P Cosmatos, they're all about as likely as some of the other names mentioned here.

Some friendly advice, luckybot?

If Bay didn't do them, which director would you have wanted to take on the TF movies?

Do you really think a TF movie can work without Bayhem? Be honest.

If not Bay then who??!!!

If another Director/Producer/Writer made the Live Action movies..

Would you like Joss Whedon to take over?

Not slamming Bay but I really woulda liked a fresh take for TF4

Why I feel a big-name director shouldn't be used if a reboot is made

My two director picks for a Transformers reboot

Christopher Nolan for TF reboot?

Perfect Michael Bay replacement.

Who here DOESN'T want Bay to direct Tf4

Peter Berg for TF4?

if tf4 was Directed by someone esle

transformers reboot director

Transformers 4 a Steven Spielberg film.

The Future of Transformers Movies

Yay or Nay: New Director for TF3

Which director should direct and Write TF3

Why George Lucas would be the best Director for TF3.

So who should helm the reboot?

micheal bay tf4 good replacements read description

Christopher Nolan as a new director? (NOT BECAUSE OF BATMAN)

Now, just interchange “TF live action movie”, "Transformers Reboot", "Transformers Movie #X" (or whatever the appropriate phrase may be in this context).

But on topic for this thread, my top choices would be Spielberg, Bay or Zemeckis, the first and last of those being directors who can handle competent and intelligible action/sci-fi movies.

But in the end, it really doesn't matter to me. I judge the product based on the product itself, not the name under "Directed By...". If it was directed by Joe Schmoe Inglebaker Chicken Catcher, it wouldn't matter. Did I enjoy it? Did I not enjoy it? I'll decide after watching the movie.
